"Yesterday, an illegal alien from Honduras brandished a weapon and assaulted federal agents and officers who were doing their job: protecting American citizens, the public and businesses who are being victimized through identity fraud," ICE acting Director Todd Lyons said Wednesday.

Our federal agents and officers have been put at much greater risk due to the huge increase in numbers under the Biden regime.

many may not be aware that nearly all meatpacking/processing plants employ illegals. This LATimes article quotes 14% to over half of all workers are unlawful. U.S. meatpacking industry relies on immigrant workers. But a labor shortage looms
This latest raid was minor compared to the 398 arrested in Iowa in 2008 under G.W. Bush.
"The Postville raid was a raid at the Agriprocessors, Inc., kosher slaughterhouse and meat packing plant in Postville, Iowa, on May 12, 2008, during George W. Bush's Presidentcy executed by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) division of the Department of Homeland Security together with other agencies.

On that day, ICE deployed 900 agents and arrested 398 employees, 98% of whom were Latino." Postville raid - Wikipedia

If you arrested all the workers simultaneously, the meat shelves would be sparse. I am not against the enforcement but I hope it is somewhat gradual in the meatpacking industry. Noem should know this very well as SD is one of the worst offenders in the % of illegals in their meatplants.

No worry. It will be limited. Only in blue states.

Maybe that Omaha raid was the bluest area of Nebraska. I wonder if they will try Grand Island or some of the other meatplants nearby, or those in rural Kansas like Garden City? Noem is from the east side of SD too where the meat plants are there.

Omaha went for Harris. The rest of Nebraska did not.

Incidentally, I have no objection to deporting illegal immigrants. My problem with previous enforcement is that it was often legal immigrants, and in a couple of cases was based on their political views. I also objected to sending people to what seems to be life in prison in El Salvador, and to use of other places seemingly chosen for how bad they are. i actualy expected workplace raids to be the first priority. I was surprised at how immigration enforcement started under Trump.

So it seems to be working out to be more complex. Trump has stopped workplace raids on agriculture, meat packing, and hospitality, because it was affecting those industries. Are we now back to legal immigrants, because they can’t find enough illegals to meet auota? Raids on construction are potentially still possible but if any raid affecting an industry will be shut down, things are going to be odd.

Why not allow enough legal immigration to cover actual industry need?
