California sanctuary politicians and rioters are defending heinous illegal alien criminals including child pedophiles and other violent criminal illegal aliens at the expense of Americans' safety.

WASHINGTON - Today, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released more information about some of the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens arrested during the ongoing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operation in Los Angeles. These arrests occurred on June 8 despite violent riots and assaults on ICE law enforcement.

“These heinous criminals, including child abusers and pedophiles, are some of the illegal aliens arrested yesterday in Los Angeles. Why do Governor Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass care more about violent criminal illegal aliens than they do about protecting their own citizens?” said Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “These rioters in Los Angeles are fighting to keep rapists, murderers, and other violent criminals loose on Los Angeles streets. Instead of rioting, they should be thanking ICE officers who every single day wake up and make our communities safer.”

Three hardened criminals and a welfare cheat. Good job, and good on the demonstrators for creating a climate of opinion that forced ICE to come clean on these guys at least. I wonder if we will find out what happened to them?

I'm amazed that you appear to be labeling the rioters as demonstrators.

Federal immigration authorities executed criminal arrest warrants at a Los Angeles business suspected of money laundering and customs fraud prior to downtown protests that turned fiery and stretched into the weekend, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

White House “border czar” Tom Homan on Monday revealed that federal law enforcement activity in the fashion district of downtown Los Angeles late last week was part of a multiagency effort to serve three warrants at a local business believed to be involved in a slew of cross-border crimes.

Following the operation, protesters quickly descended on downtown and surrounding regions and called for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the federal agency that enforces immigration laws inside the United States, to be abolished.

“The Fashion District wasn’t an immigration raid,” Homan told MSNBC Monday morning. “It was a service of three criminal warrants [at] locations based on a large criminal conspiracy … that has to do with money laundering, tax evasion, and customs fraud for a company that has undeclared, underdeclared over $80 million in goods, failed to pay $17 million in fees. They believe that some of this money is being laundered in Mexico to fund cartel activity.”

DHS spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement that “rioters in Los Angeles are fighting to keep rapists, murderers, and other violent criminals loose on Los Angeles streets.”

“Instead of rioting, they should be thanking ICE officers every single day who wake up and make our communities safer,” McLaughlin said.

A number of those arrested while serving the warrant have been identified as illegal immigrants. Some of the illegal immigrants have been described as having serious criminal histories, including criminal histories that the DHS provided for the following 11 people, just a portion of the total arrests.

There have been hundreds of immigrants picked up in ICE raids and during immigration check-ins in the Los Angeles area in the past month. It seems like DHS could give more than five examples of "heinous illegal alien criminals" they have picked up in their press release.

Looting and vandalism is a demonstration in itself. A demonstration that millennial permissive parenting has failed an entire generation.

So a dozen or so out of hundreds?
Would you mind sharing exactly, what percentage of the 100s of illegal immigrants, pouring daily into our country, would be an acceptable amount of those committing heinous crimes, “before“ you feel it would be justified for action to be taken? Maybe 50%, 60% or 75%? What type of heinous crimes do you deem unacceptable/acceptable? What part of “illegal immigrants” …?

Good grief …

Tongue-in-cheek alert:
Why don’t you head to L.A. and invite some of these poor mistreated, upright, outstanding human beings to dinner and give them a tour of your house? Let them know they have a place to crash until they can get on their feet and eventually become model citizens. You know. Lead by example ample …

Don't let the anti-immigrant propaganda coming from the Trump administration and the far right scare you. Immigrants, whether they enter the country illegally or not, are less likely than native-born citizens to commit heinous crimes.

I find any crime that an individual commits that affects others in a negative way to be unacceptable.

How is my giving an immigrant a place to crash going to address or help with the immigration issues facing this country?

I‘m 63 and have been around the block more than a few times. My motto concerning our government is simple. If you are not cynical about all things in our government then you are indeed naive. So no, I’m not buying everything they are trying to sell.

Do you have some legit stats, on your statement above, I highlighted to support your position? The fact that their entry into this country was “illegal“ doesn’t instill a lot of confidence towards your, at this point, what I consider a presupposition based on personal bias against the current administration.

Me too …

I found your nonchalant comment (my perception ) concerning 10 out of 100 criminals to be sympathetic towards the criminals. All the while kicking dirt in the face of the American people who have to foot the bill for said criminals entry, occupation and deportation. Thus my tongue & cheek comment paraphrased; if you are so sympathetic towards their rights, invite them into your life.

National Bureau of Economic Research (2023) - "Law-Abiding Immigrants: The Incarceration Gap Between Immigrants and the U.S.-Born, 1850–2020"

We construct the first nationally representative series of immigrant-US-born incarceration gaps from 1870 until present day. We find that, as a group, immigrant men have had a lower incarceration rate than US-born men for the last 150 years of American history. The differences in incarceration have become more pronounced starting in 1960, with recent waves of immigrants being 50–60% less likely to be incarcerated than US-born men (30% when compared to US-born white men). This relative decline in incarceration has occurred among immigrants from all major countries of origin, and it cannot be explained by changes in immigrants’ observable characteristics or in immigration policies.

Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (2020) - "Comparing Crime Rates Between Undocumented Immigrants, Legal Immigrants, and Native-Born US Citizens in Texas"

Leveraging a unique combination of data from the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Department of Homeland Security, this study sheds light on this understudied area of inquiry. Our analysis reveals two broad conclusions about the criminality of undocumented immigrants. First, undocumented immigrants have substantially lower rates of crime compared to both native US citizens and legal immigrants. Second, over the 7 y period from 2012 to 2018, the proportion of arrests involving undocumented immigrants in Texas was relatively stable or decreasing.

Despite substantial barriers to economic mobility coupled with considerable criminological risk factors such as low educational attainment and high poverty, the fact that we observe lower crimes rates among undocumented immigrants has important implications for current theorizing on immigration and crime.

Many undocumented immigrants are driven by economic and educational opportunities for themselves and their families, and the decision to migrate necessarily requires a considerable amount of motivation and planning. As such, undocumented immigrants may be selected on qualities such as motivation to work and ambition to achieve, attributes that are unlikely to predispose them toward criminality.

The consequences of criminal sanctions due to their precarious legal status may also be relevant. Far more than legal immigrants, undocumented immigrants have strong incentives to avoid criminal involvement for fear of detection and deportation. In this regard, lower rates of crime for undocumented individuals are consistent with a deterrence-based argument, whereby undocumented immigrants face considerably harsher sanctions (mainly deportation) from criminal wrongdoing compared to their citizen and legal immigrant counterparts.

"Debunking the Myth of the ‘Migrant Crime Wave’"

Research does not support the view that immigrants commit crime or are incarcerated at higher rates than native-born Americans. In fact, immigrants might have less law enforcement contact compared to nonimmigrants. Focusing on the facts is imperative, especially given that immigration has become a top issue for voters ahead of the election.

Substantial research has assessed the relationship between immigration and crime. Numerous studies show that immigration is not linked to higher levels of crime, but rather the opposite.

When looking specifically at the relationship between undocumented immigrants and crime, researchers come to similar conclusions. Numerous studies show that undocumented immigration does not increase violent crime; research examining crime rates in so-called sanctuary cities also found no discernable difference when compared to similarly situated cities without sanctuary policies. One study that focused on drug crimes and driving under the influence found that unauthorized immigration status was associated with reductions in arrests for those offenses.

The research also shows that overall, immigrants have a similar or even lower likelihood of incarceration compared to native-born Americans, a trend that holds for immigrants from various source countries.

So the fear of deportation is a deterrent against illegal immigrants committing crimes. Awesome. Even more incentive to not be soft on illegal immigration.
