LA Police Chief McDonnell:
In his statement on Monday, McDonnell said that the arrival of federal military forces in LA, without “clear coordination,” would present “a significant logistical and operational challenge for those of us charged with safeguarding this city.”
“The Los Angeles Police Department, alongside our mutual aid partners, have decades of experience managing large-scale public demonstrations, and we remain confident in our ability to do so professionally and effectively,” he said.

“That said, our top priority is the safety of both the public and the officers on the ground.
LA has 9,000 police...and before Trump sent in his troops there had been 120 mostly peaceful protesters, 50 arrests.

From Mayor Karen Bass:
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass spoke to KTLA on Sunday morning to discuss the protests over ICE raids taking place throughout the city and
greater L.A. area as well as the response from federal officials, including President Donald Trump’s decision to deploy thousands of National Guard troops.

“I’m very disappointed that [Trump] chose to [deploy the National Guard] because it was just not necessary,” Bass said in a phone interview.

The mayor continued on to say that she was told there were about 120 protesters in downtown L.A. Saturday night, some of whom “committed acts of vandalism,” but nothing that the Los Angeles Police Department couldn’t handle, she said.

How would you feel if someone 3000 miles away who has only listened to 12 briefings from federal law enforcement--the experts, the ones who know the facts--invaded your city as a massive publicity stunt, exacerbating the damage in the hopes of fanning the flames of hatred in our one nation under God.

Here's what God says about hatemongering--like the hatemongering the president indulges in to drive fear and anger--and get votes:

Proverbs 10:12, “Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs.”

Before you say the 120 peaceful protesters were the "haters," try to think of one kind word---just one kind word---that you have heard out of the president's mouth. I can think of one...he expressed sorrow at President Biden's cancer (or his PR person did on truth social) but hours later claimed Biden had died in 2020 and was replaced by an AI robot... so the kind word, which someone else might have authored, doesn't count.

You mean the mayor was actually in the US this time?

Whoopi and her friends are incorrect. Also, the President did not break the law. The President is enforcing the law.
He did not invoke the insurrection act (because there was only one insurrection--on January 6, 2021, which he incited), and therefore his actions were illegal and will be deemed so in the lawsuits that are being filed. Who will pay for the destruction Trump's illegal actions incited here?

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass was out of the United States during the initial outbreak of the devastating wildfires in January 2025. She was on a diplomatic trip to Ghana, attending the inauguration of President John Dramani Mahama as part of a U.S. presidential delegation, when the Palisades Fire and other wildfires began on January 7, 2025. Bass left for Ghana on Saturday, January 4, despite weather warnings from the National Weather Service about extreme fire conditions due to strong Santa Ana winds. She returned to Los Angeles on Wednesday, January 8, using a military plane to expedite her travel, but her absence during the critical early hours of the fires drew significant criticism from residents, political opponents, and media

You indicated you thought she was out of town for this crisis.

I think being part of a diplomatic delegation to the funeral of a world leader is a good reason to be out of town.

Trump is not doing anything illegal there. Who will pay for the destruction caused by the heinous actions of the rioters whose are actually breaking the law?

Calling in the Guard without the permission of the governor and without calling the Insurrection Act is illegal---like about 90% of the executive actions initiated by Trump, most having been shot down by the courts.

And the mayor and chief of police, who were actually there on the scene said that the situation---about 120 protesters---was easily contained, until the citizens of California saw their state being invaded by uninvited, unneeded troops escalating the situation and causing more violence---all in order to create fear and anger in Americans about a non-existent problem.

Steven Miller told ICE they had to arrest and deport 3000 people a day, and problem is, there aren't anywhere near that many criminals. So by manufacturing this crisis they are trying to get 3,000 people to deport, mostly ordinary law abiding people peacefully protesting.

Can't people see through this blatant presidential rabble-rousing?

LA law enforcement said it was just a few troublemakers, perhaps even planted, until Trump unconstitutionally sent in armies to fight our citizens.
Back in 1970, when Americans had not sold their souls to a megalomaniacal demagogue, Lent State was a big deal. "Four Dead in Ohio" topped the charts.
Evil of this magnitude was unheard of.

Unfortunately, this post is not factually accurate.
True enough. It wasn't "Lent State," it was Kent State, and the Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young song was simply titled "Ohio."

Otherwise, of course, she's right on.

Speaking of correcting factually inaccurate statements...

Trump is innocent of the crimes that he was accused of committing.
Trump was presumed innocent of those charges prior to the trial. Then he was found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt of all 34 felonies by a jury of his peers.

So, factually, he is not innocent of the crimes. He was proven guilty and convicted on all counts.

-- A2SG, just correcting some facts here, feel free to resume the topic of the thread....

John Fetterman Rips Fellow Democrats For Not Condemning LA Riots

Democrat Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman took to social media Monday to criticize his fellow Democrats for not denouncing the violent riots that broke out in Los Angeles after an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raid.

In a post on X, Fetterman said he was disappointed in his party’s failure to take a firm stand against the destruction, calling the situation “anarchy and true chaos.” He said that the Democratic Party risks losing its moral high ground when it fails to unequivocally condemn such actions.

No I am not a fan of Fetterman and he did not suddenly become important. It is a discussion topic plainly stated

To be honest, the once brain dead Fetterman has come to his senses over the past 6-12 months, hard to believe but good to see!

4 years plus VP experience could have made a lot of difference. And if she failed - then we'd have a different candidate with time to do a proper campaign, which would be preferable to the last minute debacle Biden forced us into.
Biden was forced out of running.

Kamala had four years of people’s le seeing and listening to her. She had over a billion dollars spent

She was rated the worst VP three weeks before she suddenly became the best candidate.

And you say this based on all of the evidence that you were privy to while you were in the court room or more of a gut feeling?

She was unpopular for frankly stupid reasons mostly having to do with image rather than substance.
What substance? She had plenty of time to explain her flip-flop, but failed to do so.

I say this based upon the extremely clear political bias of the prosecutors and the judge.

There are no riots. How can one condemn that which does not exist?

The Democrats have nothing to apologize for here.
You were saying?
