The congresswoman representing South Carolina's 1st Congressional district on April 23 attended an event on Dataw Island, a private, gated community. Attendance was restricted to members of the Dataw Island Owners' Association. About 200 people welcomed Mace, while about two dozen protesters carrying signs and blowing horns camped out on Sea Island Parkway on St. Helena Island, several miles from the front gates of the upscale community.

Protestors objected to Mace being at a meeting that was billed as a town hall but which was closed to general public

[You may also have recently seen Mace (in a video she shared herself!) dropping f-bombs in an Ulta with a constituent who was asking about town halls.]

It's a sad time when the rich can't talk with their elected representatives without common people complaining. You want government to work for you, make some money and quit being so poor.

Another form of insulation from criticism.

Nancy Mace Staffers Forced To Make ‘Burner Accounts’ To Defend and Boost Congresswoman Online: Report

Former staffers for Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) claimed they had to make “burner accounts” while working for the congresswoman so they could boost her image online and fight with critics.

Jake Lahut reported for WIRED that “former staffers” of Mace claimed they were “setting up burner accounts on a variety of social media platforms to monitor what people were saying about her and bolster her image.” She would also encourage staffers to create personal burner accounts so they could defend her against critics, according to those staffers, all of whom chose to remain anonymous.

“We had to make multiple accounts, burner accounts, and go and reply to comments, saying things that weren’t true—even Reddit forums,” one ex-employee said. “We were congressional staff, and there were actual things we could be doing to help the constituents.”

Would any of her current staffers care to comment?
