Now we can concetrate on his problems with auto construction and safety, his inability to get a rocket to complete a full orbit of the Earth, and his media platform that has worse clientele than a Mos Eisley cantina. (And his vile friends.)

“The federal bureaucracy situation is much worse than I realized,” he said. “I thought there were problems, but it sure is an uphill battle trying to improve things in D.C., to say the least.”

I'm sure it's solely the bureaucracy's fault and not his gigantic ego and utter lack of respect for the organizations and work they do (and have already done) leading him to think that he was smart enough to waltz in and fix everything in a few months.

I think the only reason he's been successful in some of his other ventures is that he respects the companies doing the work, the difficulty of the challenges they're facing, and is willing to dig into the details himself to understand them. For example, in this ars technica interview, he's talking about torquing bolts and grout formulations on Starship - things you should be thinking about when trying to build a rocket. But with DOGE, he was just making up stuff and steamrolling everybody in a way that made absolutely zero sense to anybody with experience doing the things he claimed to be trying to do.

This lack of respect was pretty obvious in his takeover of Twitter, which he also made worse. His handling of Tesla was similar to his current handling of SpaceX, but where that stands now is unclear to me.

Either way, I'm happy to see him get roasted in public. He and his pig-headedness hurt a lot of people.

Wasn't it always the plan the DOGE was a temporary thing? Furthermore, DOGE didn't slash anything. All they did was say, "Mr. President, look at what we found."
Dude, what are you talking about? They fired scores of people, shuttered whole agencies and cancelled contracts and literally pulled money out of bank accounts. They had guys in the server rooms collecting data and pulling literal hard-drives out of machines. The damage this "agency" did will be felt for years and years to come.

...except by Elon and his companies. He killed all those investigations and regulatory actions too.

Hopefully he has become so disillusioned with politics that he will never donate another penny to the campaigns of the callous oligarchs he seems to favor.
