  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The U.S. Supreme Court has declined to hear an appeal in the case of a Massachusetts public school student punished for wearing a shirt stating, "There are only 2 genders."

In an orders list released Tuesday morning, the high court declined to grant a petition for a writ of certiorari in the case of L.M. v. Town of Middleborough, Massachusetts, et. al.

As a result, an earlier ruling from the 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals against the minor student and his parents is allowed to stand.

Justice Samuel Alito authored a dissenting opinion to the denial of the petition, which was included in the orders list. He was joined by Justice Clarence Thomas.

They shouldn’t be punished. People have right to an opinion, even if it’s so called controversial. Ugh

Generally, I agree. But, there is precedent here.

Source: L. M. v. MIDDLEBOROUGH

If speech "materially disrupts classwork," then I think it's reasonable to curtail that speech. I shouldn't have my education disrupted simply because someone wants to express an opinion.
Yes, BUT those who support transgenderism can also be considered disruptive.

It’s a two way street ;)

Sure, the principle applies consistently. If their support for transgenderism "materially disrupts classwork," then it is reasonable to curtail their speech.
What?!?!?

Well? Those who support can also be considered “goading.”

It works both ways ;)
It does but it seems the more woke crowd have the upper hand when it comes to not believing the science. ;)

7 justices ruled against freedom of speech and expression on face value IMHO
