Trump says he wants 'names and countries' of all international students at Harvard

Donald Trump said he wants the "names and countries" of every international student enrolled at Harvard University, another step in the president's crackdown on the Ivy League school.

He made the request in a Truth Social post May 25, days after a federal judge blocked the Trump administration's effort to bar the university from enrolling anyone in the United States on a student visa.

Truth Social is an odd place to make this request, unless Harvard's registrar regularly reads Truth Social. I think the White House should be sending a letter directly to the Registrar's Office at Harvard, with documentation justifying the need to override FERPA.

Also, he seems a bit unclear on how tuition works:

Why isn’t Harvard saying that almost 31% of their students are from FOREIGN LANDS, and yet those countries, some not at all friendly to the United States, pay NOTHING toward their student’s education, nor do they ever intend to. Nobody told us that!

ICE already has the information. It's a part of the Student & Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) database. So Trump is either dumb and doesn't realize the government already has the info, and/or he's trying to intimidate Harvard and/or the students.
