  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What laws today is racism still embedded?

What laws today is racism still embedded?
Read what I wrote. CRT is the understanding that racism has been embedded into the politics and laws of the US.
Even if you think racism is no longer a thing in the US, it does not negate the reality of what CRT is and means.
It is being attacked and misconstrued by the right simply because, and as we seen with book bans, because they wish to purge the US of that stain in it's history. It's that simple. Our history is what it is. No need to white wash it.

Back to the Pope.

I kind of think the Vatican purposely chose this particular person who champions what Jesus actually championed; taking up the mantle for the "least of us" from the very country where those who claim to follow Jesus and the leader they champion, think taking up for the least of us are just liberal talking points.

Avoiding the question does not answer it.

I never said racism is no longer a thing. I experience it all the time from white liberal women. Again I ask, which laws is racism still embedded?

CRT is this, "Critical race theory is an academic concept that is more than 40 years old. The core idea is that race is a social construct, and that racism is not merely the product of individual bias or prejudice, but also something embedded in legal systems and policies." That theory, heck that reality, is indeed true. Moreover, I know redlining is still a thing.

You kinda set yourself up for this but just because a white woman says "No" dosen't make them liberals.

Equal in importance, despite Republicans' neglect of the born.
Someone once brought up this analogy. In a fire, would you save the infant in a crib or the embryo in the freezer. Ridiculous, I know. How about this?
Your infant needs lifesaving surgery, but there's a bill coming up for storage of your frozen embryo. Which would you pay for with your limited funds?

The question I would ask is why you have a frozen embryo? That in itself is morally wrong.

No. Why is the left trying to once again make race an issue? Nobody cares about what the Pope's grandparents look like. But it seems like the left is trying to fabricate an imaginary racial issue just to find something to complain about.

The op did not "make race an issue". Nor did the op "complain" about race. I suggest you re-read the Op's first post.

I suggest you re-read the OP's first post because she clearly asked,
"But is this why there seems to be a conservative backlash towards him?" And I responded with my answer.

Okay. I didn't read it as the "conservative backlash" was based on race.

And I will say this again. Absolutely irrelevant. There doesn't have to be racism currently embedded in laws to understand that laws are in fact used as a form of racism. Do I personally know of any? I am not a judge nor a lawyer privy to all laws of states, cities, townships or municipalities. I do know if fact those people in that legal arena would have that insight. You know, those law professors, lawyers, and law school students where courses on CRT solely take place. The idea that yes, laws are used in racist or ethnicity was to marginalize a group, is not just a US thing. You can find those laws in the Bible. Your question of "what about now" doesn't negate the reality.

So the solution is what? Destroy the entire system and replace it with something more "equitable?"

I don't know about solution.
What I do say is the purposely misconstruing of CRT to justify basically banning books and whitewash history needs to stop.

Why would an embryo be frozen in the first place? No life should be treated like that, and yes, all life, regardless of location, is important.
