  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Jerusalem CNN —
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to “defend ourselves alone” against Yemen’s Houthi rebels after US President Donald Trump struck a deal with the Iran-backed group.

The US deal, announced just hours after the Israeli military carried out major strikes against Yemen’s international airport and other facilities in response to a Houthi attack on Israel’s main airport, was a surprise to Israel, which was not informed in advance about the truce, an Israeli official told CNN earlier.

According to Trump, the US would halt an ongoing military campaign against the Houthis in exchange for the group stopping its attacks on US interests in the region.

This one could get interesting...

U.S. Administration Pressuring Israel to Sign Gaza Truce Deal Ahead of Trump's Mideast Trip

Trump's administration has communicated to Jerusalem that if Israel does not move forward together with the United States toward an agreement with Hamas, it will be left on its own, according to a source

Haaretz has also learned that Steve Witkoff is the senior American official who met earlier this week with families of the hostages and told them that military pressure endangers the captives.

Israel's Channel 12 News reported on Thursday that Witkoff told the families: "If until now the hostages have paid the price for the war not ending, today the price will be much heavier for Israel, and not just for the hostages. President Trump is determined to move forward toward a significant deal with Saudi Arabia, even without Israeli involvement."

According to the report on Channel 12, Witkoff also told the families of the hostages that "the cease-fire agreement with the Houthis is just a prelude, and if Israel does not come to its senses, then even the 'Deal of the Millennium' [a deal with Saudi Arabia] will be made without it.

Reuters reported on Thursday that the United States will not require Saudi Arabia to sign a normalization agreement with Israel as a condition for negotiations on the kingdom's civilian nuclear program, citing two sources familiar with the matter.

Presumably "US interests in the region" includes Israel.
One would understandably assume that...

However, per the CNN article:
The Houthis acknowledged the agreement but made it clear their attacks on Israel would continue. Senior Houthi leader Mohammed Ali al-Houthi said after the announcement that the agreement was “a victory that separates US support for the temporary entity (Israel) and a failure for Netanyahu.”
