  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Tina Peters is not a "political prisioner". She was a clerk who violated her oath of office to the State of Colorado to tamper with voting machines and cause the existing machines in her county to have to be replaced prematurely because of her actions. She was convicted by the State of Colorado and the President has no authority over them.

Huh... Well not really surprising that you seem to be FOR election tampering despite claims otherwise .

If she was this bastion of democracy, why did she feel she had to "sneak" her "expert" in to the voting machines, using a fake badge? Why was the badge for Gerald Wood, instead of Conan Hayes (who actually used it) to make copies of the software? Why did she initially lie about her role in what occurred? And why did she claim that Gerald Wood had been vetted and background checked (which neither Gerald Wood or Conan Hayes ever was)? The simple fact is that she broke the law and betrayed her oath of office, period.

It is also worth noting that Hayes -- despite being claimed as a voting machine expert -- is actually the co-founder of a clothing company that failed (Chapter 11 bankruptcy). It seems that Hayes actual "expertise" was in "Q" conspiracy theories.

It is also worth noting that when the FBI went to inspect the election machines that Hayes had tampered with, that Peters did not show up. Instead, she was in a "safe house" per Mike Lindell, to "protect her." It was after this that the all-Republican County Board of Commissioners voted to replace all the machines due to the tampering -- not a "political act" by her "enemies," but done by her own party and co-workers -- as a result of her unlawful actions.

Last, it is worth noting that Peters herself oversaw a "risk limiting audit," as required by county law, to ensure the results from the tabulating computers matched a count done manually of a random selection of paper ballots. Tina Peters signed off on the audit, stating there were no issues or discrepancies. Further, it is worth noting that Mesa County -- where Tina Peters served as County Clerk -- voted nearly 63% for Trump in 2020, but in 2024 Trump only received about 61% of the vote.

The optimist in me thinks that a few years from now we shall reluctantly and reservedly thank Trump for deliberately testing the weaknesses in the USA's system of government, so that those weaknesses could be elimated, not - as planned by Trump, so that a fascist dictatorship can be established.

Wouldn't it be easier to pardon her?
The president can only pardon federal convictions - he has no authority over state courts. The governor of Colorado is the only person who could pardon Peters.
