I`ve always been curious, what got you into it?
People, usually religious types posting on religious forums like this, posting misinformation and sometimes outright lies about scientific topics.

For you to know it was "information and outright lies," you would have to recognize it as such. *

To recognize it as such, you would have to have gotten into science.

In other words, you didn't answer the question.

* Either that, or believe on faith those who say it's misinformation and outright lies.

My answer was sufficient. Thanks.

@Vidu : Select your preferred answer.

  1. Bus, then a walk up hill to school, then upstairs to one or other of the science labs.
  2. Curiosity.
  3. A distaste, at that time for history, foreign languages, PE, home economics and woodworking. (Some of those antipathies remain.)
  4. A fascination with planets and stars, reinforced by books by Patrick Moore, that morphed into a taste for historical geology, since it involved less mathematics.
  5. Being neurologically diverse.
  6. Pure accident.

Remember this post?

QV please:

10. Francis Crick (1916-2004)

Along with James D. Watson, Francis Crick will forever be remembered as one of the discoverers of the very structure of DNA. The duo met while working at the University of Cambridge and in 1962 received a Nobel Prize for their scientific work. Crick was arguably among the finest minds in science, which is what makes his later beliefs all the more difficult to fathom. At some point in the 1970s, Crick became an advocate of one of the weirdest pseudoscientific theories of all time – a theory so out there that if someone on the bus were to suggest it to you, you might be tempted to edge away from them quite quickly. The premise of “directed panspermia” is that life on Earth was deliberately seeded by extra-terrestrials – an idea that seems more like the plot of a sci-fi film than anything based in methodical scientific research.

A Ph. D. in physics.
I was tempted to create a sock puppet so I could award the post a laughing emoji as well, since I was torn been the scalpel-like precision of the jibe and the resultant mirth.

I thought about making that post in MM's thread, but I really try to refrain from those threads on principle. This ban-evaders thread came up, so...
