  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

But it is famous! As prisons go, it is a celebrity. It's starred in movies and has been featured in tv shows.
Must have been an Alcatraz movie on over the weekend to inspire this nonsense.

Trump, in his social media post, said the country can’t be held hostage by “criminals, thugs, and Judges that are afraid to do their job and allow us to remove criminals, who came into our Country illegally.”
The Republican has railed against federal judges who have slowed his effort to boot alleged gangbangers and ship them off to the infamous El Salvador megaprison.
Just last Thursday, District Judge Fernando Rodriguez – who was appointed by Trump – blocked the US government from using the Alien Enemies Act to deport suspected members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua.
Trump also ordered the FBI, the Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security to help get Alcatraz reopened.

If these judges are still going to delay the deportation of the process we need prisons like Alcatraz to hold violent criminals.

I support holding violent criminals in Alcatraz as long as these individuals go through legal processes and the court decides they are violent criminals to be held in jail.

As Trump posted on Truth Social:

"When we were a more serious Nation, in times past, we did not hesitate to lock up the most dangerous criminals, and keep them far away from anyone they could harm. That’s the way it’s supposed to be."

Again, I agree with President Trump.

But, I want the court to decide who is criminal.

What advantages are there to using a prison that’s going to need hundreds of millions in repairs to be made suitable?

Gen Mille also stated that he would leak information to China if Trump was planning to attack. Such treasonous statements demonstrate his political ideology being priority over duty.
If Trump does anything unhinged that affects our national security I would expect those of sounder minds to follow the Constitution and disobey.
Country first.

Trump will reopen Alcatraz

First off, the idea is genuinely idiotic.

Second, his word on pretty much any topic has become worthless.

But it is famous! As prisons go, it is a celebrity. It's starred in movies and has been featured in tv shows. Of course Trump would like it to be a showpiece for his illustrious administration.
Thats totally it. As a professional lifestyle brand salesman, hes dazzled by other famous brands.

FYI..it was not cost effective in 1963......

"When the maximum security prison was closed by then Attorney General Robert Kennedy in 1963, the Federal Bureau of Prisons stated it was too expensive to continue operating, because it needed $3 million to $5 million in restoration and maintenance. The bureau reported it was three times more expensive to operate than any other federal prison, primarily because of its physical isolation and lack of fresh water."

"It attracts $60 million in revenue for park partners and attracts 1.6 million visitors a year, according to the National Park Service."
