  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

We are reminded of the exceptional expression of kindhearted religion in James 1:27:

Pure and undefiled religion before the God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their tribulation; to keep oneself unstained from the world.

Some say this is glaringly simple to follow Jesus' call:

Then He said to another, “Follow Me.”
But he said, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.”
Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and preach the kingdom of God.” (Luke 9:59,60)

Is it simply a matter of; those who are spiritually dead to tend to burying the dead? Would this pertain predominately to those who head up the long-train of lukewarm-to-cold Churches as the Spirit himself would have already identified through Jesus, 'those outside of the body'(1Cor 5:12) from every fold?

I am quite sure, ''widows'' occupy both criteria of the above spiritualities. How do you handle the vulnerability of verse-60 today?

In my humble opinion, Jesus Christ of Nazareth was not focused on the act of attending burial after all, I am certain many faithful followers were present when He was laid in the tomb. Additionally, the dead who are there to bury the dead are actually the harvest. There is a far more important and earnest message here.
Be blessed.
