For now the only visible effect of these tariffs is higher prices for everyone. When does that translate into lower taxes for everyone making under $200k? At what point do the lower taxes overtake the increase in spending we all now have to deal with?

The article you cite is an opinion piece from the Daily Caller, a well known far right media outlet founded by Tucker Carlson. Fact-checkers have frequently debunked Daily Caller stories. According to the Encyclopedia Britannica, The Daily Caller "descended into extremism and sensationalism, publishing unsupported and frequently vulgar attacks on Democratic leaders, false criticisms of liberal causes, and the propagation of popular conspiracy theories. The site also became known for its promotion of racist and sexist stereotypes" In an October 2018 Simmons Research survey of 38 news organizations, The Daily Caller was ranked as the least trusted news organization by Americans. When looking at claims of this sort one must consider the source. I did further research and can find no reputable source that's made this claim within this context.
Let's look at the article itself. It says that "at least $15.4 billion in customs duties and related excise taxes flowed into federal coffers last month". It doesn't mention that the customs duties (tariffs) aren't actually money coming in to the US but rather are paid by the importer who is receiving the goods. So, it's money that's being spent by American companies, not money coming in. It's really more of a tax on American companies and ultimately consumers than it is an outside revenue stream. Of course they want people to believe this is some sort of windfall for average Americans when in reality it's a burden on American companies as reflected by the instability in the current Wall Street markets. When we fall into the trap of taking extremely biased journalism at face value, we risk being influenced by those with an ulterior motive, Only by research to learn how things actually work can one weed through all the partisan ramblings and find the truth.

So says Mr. Trump, but when he had the opportunity with his first tax cuts the vast majority of the money went to corporations and the top earners. They claimed the corporations would then use the money to stimulate the economy but instead it led to an unprecedented rash of stock buybacks and pay increases for corporate executives, further enriching the top executives of those companies. It also doesn't note that these tariffs are not paid out of some foreigner's pockets but by the American companies. So, even if you believe he will cut taxes for the average American to any significant degree, it is folly to believe that it can be financed by tariffs. It shows a complete lack of understanding of Federal Government funding and budgeting while disregarding all the negative effects of this type of trade warfare. Such as the loss of thousands of family farms during his previous trade war with China. According to the Wisconsin Examiner "Since he became president, Trump’s disastrous policies have contributed to the more than 2,000 dairy farms that have had to close their barn doors forever, with a record 818 disappearing for good last year alone." It also doesn't take into account that these tariffs aren't paid by some enemy but by American companies who are importing the goods. It's a very complicated matter when assessed from a birds eye view. We must take into account all the factors that affect funding and taxation and the real world ramifications before forming an opinion of the situation. And lastly we can hardly take the word of the very person who has a vested interest in touting every one of his policies as unrivaled successes.Donald J. Trump
