  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

On Keeping Promises

I add this article, not to underline some political party or another.

I add this article because some political people spin lies, to get votes.
And they do not (somehow) see that this is LYING, and is unworthy as
a method to get votes.

Promises that are made, that are radically out of touch with our shared reality
(such as, "On day 1, I will stop the war in Ukraine"), are nothing more than
lies. We would not accept these sorts of lies from candidates for the
management of technical companies. Why should we accept them as
as "merely part of the game", from political figures.

Why would we accept the lies from universities, that their diplomas are
worth something in the current job market, IF they have watered down
required courses to the extent that their diplomas are modern basket-weaving
exercises? (You do know that most required courses in universities have been
eliminated?)

Why would we accept the resume of a candidate to be a pastor/teacher in
a Christian congregation, IF they do not have a history of seriously studying
critical Bible study skills (such as New Testament Greek)?

This habit of speaking unreal promises, or even openly lying about qualifications,
is incompatible with historical Christianity.

One of the critics who wrote a comment on this thread, said that he had not seen any
examples of the current president making promises that were unbelievable. I would
assert that if Christians would read from a broad number of news sources, THEN it is
impossible to miss the dozens of examples in which the current president has made
promises/claims, that cannot be believed.

Try reading from the Google News home site.
