  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

NYPD Commissioner Jessica S. Tisch said: “Tren de Aragua is one of the most dangerous gangs in the country, and the NYPD has taken significant action to shut down their operations in New York City. For the first time ever, TdA is being named and charged as the criminal enterprise that it is. This isn’t just street crime—it’s organized racketeering, and this gang has shown zero regard for the safety of New Yorkers. As alleged in the indictment, these defendants wreaked havoc in our communities, trafficking women for sexual exploitation, flooding our streets with drugs, and committing violent crimes with illegal guns. Thanks to the dedicated members of the NYPD and the important work of our federal partners, their time is up.”

The American people have had enough.

This is how due process is supposed to work. From what I can tell in the document, there were investigations and now arrests by police, and the defendants are being charged with specific, named laws. The document mentions attorneys and judges, along with the standard statement that "the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty", so I assume there will be a jury trial (or possible plea bargain) in a U.S. court, with attorneys representing the defendants. According to the document, sentences for those who are convicted will be determined by the judge, within the maximum and minimum penalties mandated by the various laws involved.

All very good. That's our legal system.

Yes, the gang members and terrorists will be dealt with. Mayorkas and the rest who broke our border laws also need to be prosecuted, I could give Trump a 90% positive score so far on what he has been doing but his biggest failures is in not holding high-ranking officials accountable. As to gangs and terrorists, there is resistance among many Democrats, NYC Democrat leaders are furious at Mayor Adams for working with the Trump administration to apprehend the criminals.
