CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Not for nothing, but this is the kind of thing The Establishment should’ve been doing for the last 40 years. Maybe if they’d taken time to address the public regarding all the quackery that’s taken hold on the right, we wouldn’t be quite so deep in this mess.

I can't say how bad Trump look or is. Because of this forum rules. But if Trump really believes China unleashed this horrible COVID-19 virus on purposes. Because of Trump harassment . Then he would stop starting trouble with China. But he knows it's BS. Trying to make people mad.

At first glance, the picture of Trump walking towards the reader from the COVID headline makes him look like the cause of it. This website is scary because the full authority of the president is behind a lie. The lie is convenient to him for two main reasons:
1) He is in trade negotiations with China and making them look bad works for his desire to eliminate all trade competition from that place.
2) Trumps biggest screw up in his last presidency was his handling of the COVID-19 crisis. This is all about wounded ego and undoing the accusation. It is all China's fault that the "China virus" was used by those evil democrats to help overthrow me - is the sentiment here.
An honest review of the literature tends to a natural explanation of origins over a lab-based one, although there are still grounds to continue the conversation:
Although most data certainly point to a natural origin, the intermediate host has not been found, and the hypothesis of a laboratory-leak has not been yet scientifically discarded.

Trump really should not be taking credit for creating the virus or putting it in human populations like that. (He had some role in spreading it, but only in this country, and some role in slowing it down.)

Not sure the theory is China released it on purpose. I believe most people who go with the lab leak believe it was accidental and the outrage is based more on the fact Fauci was allegedly helping to fund what amounts to a bioweapon.
