  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Pray for our faith and protection

Hello @Faithfulandtrue, I'm sorry to hear that something is causing so much anxiety and fear in your lives right now!! Is it due (at least in part) to not having a good sense of what God's will is in regard to these things that you are trying to figure out?

Praying for you two! (and congratulations on your engagement) :)

Blessings to you in Christ!!

--David
p.s. - have you told your pastor yet (to get his help/advice/counsel, and so that he'll know how to be in prayer for you, specifically)? If not, that's what I've done in the past and will continue to do going forward (Dv), whenever such problems arise.

Here's a Christian quote and a passage to go with it that I'm hoping will be both useful and a blessing to you in all of this.

Two words will help you cope when you run low on hope: accept and trust!
~Pastor Chuck Swindoll
Proverbs 3
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
And do not lean on your own understanding;
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will direct your paths.

Dear Jesus, You have not given us a spirit of fear, but sometimes we may be lost as to how that is. Please show this struggling young couple Your power, love, and self-discipline, that they may subdue their problems that You have given them and move forward with greater trust in you. In Christ’s Name, Amen.

Thank you friend! I'm sorry it took me so long to come back and read everyone's replies. I appreciate you guys so much. ❤️ Yeah its allot of life choices. I made the mistake of moving in with my fiance out of state. What I planned to be temporary, is starting to look like a permanent or at least allot longer than I thought I would be out here. I knew moving in together was not a good idea especially as a believer, but i also was so upset with our long distance for over a year I rushed out here. I planned to be out here for only a few months but his parents are pushing me to stay. Both of our jobs are awful and I think we should go back home until were married and do this right. Get a plan and come back to the Lord. I left my old church back home because of the way I was being treated by some people. (I think I've posted a few times about that here). I wonder if everything is going wrong because the Lord is mad at me and I don't blame Him. I disobeyed by living here even though we aren't sleeping together. I still should have waited to move. I just wanted to be sure I was marrying the right guy and I am. But now I don't know what to do

Sorry I forgot to reply to this part. Another reason why i left my old church was i didn't know who to talk to about my struggles. My pastors wife has cancer so I didn't want to bother him with my problems. But I don't know who else i could talk to there because allot of people i trusted there either left after covid or got real quiet and exclusive. I am looking for a new church out here though. I know we really need a pastor right now

I feel the need to write out another prayer.

Dear Lord Jesus,
Please help this young couple to find better employment, and help both of them to find better places to live. Please lead and guide them with good counsel and show them what You would have them to do. Help them not to be pressured into bad decisions, but instead walk in the light of Your will and the counsel of Your Truth. You have brought these two together and I would not separate them; but also guard them from shame and regret that Satan loves to use. You have forgiven them from sin based on Your sacrifice - help them to move forward in this confidence.
In Christ's Name,
Amen

Hello again Faithfulandtrue, no worries at all, I'm just glad that you've found the time to return and catch us up (we know that you're very busy right now) :)

But now I don't know what to do.
I totally understand what you've been going through (it was much the same for me about 39 years ago when my wife and I were still engaged). It's very hard to be planning your marriage with someone who you are so in love with that you really do want to spend every minute with them/have every experience with them, and then not be able to.

As far as the Lord being "mad" at you, I don't believe that's the case, rather, I think that He's like a concerned parent, one who wants the very best for you both, but sensing/knowing that you may be headed for (or on) a rougher road than you need to be on (after all, He not only knows where the path that you've chosen "might" lead, He knows exactly where it does lead).

I guess you need to ask yourself, where do you think that you'll end up if you two stay the course that you're on now? Where you want and hope to be, or somewhere else?

That all said, it sounds like you guys feel (know?) that you went a little off the reservation (so to speak) as Christians, but it also sounds like you haven't been involved in sin (yet), and that's good  (but that can change, in a heartbeat, as I'm sure you know, which is why Christian couples typically choose not to take the chance that you two are right now).

The choices that you've made in a lot of this are theologically defined as adiaphora, things which are neither commanded nor forbidden in the Bible, per say, but things that we are to talk over with the Lord before doing (so that we can be sure to follow His will in such cases).

So, what to do next? If you feel/know that you should have made different choices, then stop and figure out how to get back there (especially since you've said that the way things have turned out for you is not what you intended or wanted). Your pastor is probably the one to turn to for help at this point (but I believe that you've said that there's a problem there, yes?).

If that's the case, then all you can do is be sure to do the right thing next, and then the next right thing after that, and so on, which means doing what you know (or at least believe) is right to do in His eyes, each and every time going forward from here (and don't forget that doing the right thing may also mean taking other's needs into account before your own, but I'll wait for another post to talk about that).

I don't think that I shared this advice with you yet (from the Scottish theologian and pastor, Dr. Ferguson), but I will do so now. It's what I try to remember to do, especially when I'm not sure of what to do or which way to go next, and this is it.

Be Obedient - Ferguson.jpg

The thing is, whenever I've chosen to follow this advice (which the Bible certainly teaches, even if indirectly) I always end up wondering why I didn't do so from the get-go ;) because it always works out to be the very best thing that I could have done (even when I've thought otherwise, at first).

So, my advice to you is to follow Dr. Ferguson's advice from now on (because I don't believe that you can go wrong if you do .. because following that advice will definitely require trusting God ).

God bless you!!

Thank you for your reply. I agree with what you said and I do think I need to move back home for a while. Please pray for me to be able to so that but also for my fiance. His parents are acting really weird and cold. He's not doing well out here but they keep pressuring us both to stay out here. It's really giving me anxiety

Please pray for my fiance and I. We are both facing fear and anxiety in trying to figure out some things
Lord, have mercy on this woman and her fiancé. Take away all her anxiety and fear, and fill her with your abundant grace and peace. Fill her mind with your knowledge and truth. In the name of Christ, I pray. Amen!
