  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am loving this series. TCM Special Theme: The Power of Film

"2024 will mark the release of a new documentary based on Suber’s most famous book. The Power of Film (2024) is a six-part series which combines footage from some of the most acclaimed and beloved movies of all time along with Suber’s own thoughts on why these films had such cultural and emotional impact on audiences, both upon their original release and still today."

I especially appreciated the second part dealing with "trapped". Nearly all memorable stories, whether told in movies or in real life, are about traps. The most memorable are generally about the loss, sacrifice, and ultimate triumph the central character must engage in to escape their trap.
We are all always trapped. It is a life theme and movies depict the variations for us.

But as I was watching I though about how the only real escape from entrapment is transcendence. Toward the end of the episode that is recognized.
