  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Isaiah prophesied YHWH-God coming in 40:
3 A voice cries: “In the wilderness prepare the way of the LORD [YHWH]; make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
Two and a half centuries later, Malachi added some detail in 3:
1 I will send my messenger,
i.e., John the Baptizer
who will prepare the way before me.
i.e., before God
Then suddenly the Lord
H113-adoni, i.e., Jesus
you are seeking will come to his temple; the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, will come,” says the LORD Almighty.
A few centuries later, it was fulfilled bright and early in Mark 1:
2 As it is written in Isaiah the prophet, “Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way, 3 the voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Preparec the way of the Lord, make his paths straight,’”

Jesus applied the prophecy to himself when he spoke about John in Matthew 11:
10 "This is the one about whom it is written: ’I will send my messenger
i.e., John the Baptizer
ahead of you,
i.e., Jesus
who will prepare your way before you'
i.e., Jesus.
Jesus alluded himself to be YHWH-God by applying Isaiah 40:3 and Malachi 3:1 to Himself. This supports Jesus' divinity and his identity as YHWH-God incarnate.
