  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

That comes as part of a cease fire - kind of in the name -

But please show me any time in three years of war that Biden proposed a cease fire and Ukraine said yes and Russia considered it.

I'll wait.

It is unlikely that Putin would have agreed to any form of ceasefire between 2022 and 2023. Both Putin and the international community believed that the Russian army would conquer Ukraine within three weeks. Even after this did not occur, there was skepticism about Ukraine's ability to withstand the invasion for an extended period. Putin was confident that he could achieve his objectives, and therefore had no incentive to negotiate a settlement.

In 2024, Putin intended to observe the outcome of the U.S. election before deciding whether it would be more advantageous for Russia to pursue a ceasefire or a peace deal.

While it is easy to criticize President Biden for not actively pursuing a peace deal or ceasefire, the reality remains that President Putin was unlikely to agree to either.

How do you know that?

President Trump has been in office 2 months and it sure looks like it is about to happen - what made the difference beside the Commander in Chief?

How do I know? I read, research, and form my own opinions. I don't wait for the White House to tell me what to think.

He pre-emptively stated that Ukraine would never be admitted to NATO, that they would have to surrender territory, and that US troops would never be stationed in Ukraine as peacekeepers. He also stopped military aid and intelligence sharing temporarily, called Zelensky a dictator, and blamed Ukraine for starting the war. So far, the only thing he's gotten in exchange for all of this is an agreement from Putin to stop attacking Ukraine's energy infrastructure for 30 days.
