  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Senate Democrats are refusing to work with Republicans on a Continuing Resolution on Wednesday as a government shutdown deadline approaches. The current temporary spending plan is set to end Friday at midnight, leaving the Senate less than two days to work out a solution.
“Republicans do not have the votes in the Senate to invoke cloture on the House CR,” Schumer told reporters, according to Newsmax.

We need to go back and find exactly what Democrats in Congress said previously about a government shutdown.

There's no working with to refuse. The situation is that either the Senate votes for the GOP budget plan that the House passed a couple days ago without Democratic input, or it doesn't.

Schumer has proposed a one month extension, which would allow for some time to, you know, work with each other in a bipartisan fashion.

Schumer has now said that he'll vote for it. Coward.

Yeah this was a huge gamble for the Democrats. If they allowed a shutdown, they could be blamed for any economic downturn turns. If they vote for the CR, whatever happens is going to be on Trump.

I really hope he succeeds in completing his work to cut spending and deal with the woke issues. I certainly hope his tariff behaviors don't interfere with that work.
