  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Priest is leaving this parish

There is an amazing priest (at least in terms of knowledge and homilies) whose parish I sometimes visited over the past 3 years (too long distance for me to want to go regularly IMHO), though not incredibly often. He is not bad for confession, but he is kind of stoic. However, he is being assigned to something in Rome starting in August and that, to me, is quite a loss for the parish. I have a feeling he's not everyone's cup of tea - his homilies are more intellectual, meat-and-potatoes homilies, but that's my thing. I guess that's how it goes. I notice however, that the older priests in my Diocese (at least the ones who are in their 40s) don't tend to be transferred as often as the younger priests - they tend to stick around the same parish until retirement, and then they get replaced.

Rejoice in his new position! Thats great for him, and perhaps you will have another priest come that is even better than him!

He's going to a great position, I think (though I don't understand his future new title). I'm not entirely invested in that parish because of the distance, but I'm eager to see who will replace him. It might be someone I'm familiar with.

Pray for many more vocations to the priesthood for your diocese! Many priests are exhausted and overworked.
I seriously think that some parishes in my Diocese need more than one priest/pastor.

I think that’s the issue with many cities and larger towns. Many parishes are closing or being forced to consolidate.
