  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

House censures Democratic Rep. Al Green for disrupting Trump’s joint address to Congress

WASHINGTON — The House on Thursday voted to censure an unrepentant Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, for disrupting President Donald Trump’s address to Congress.
House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., had Green removed from the chamber during the early moments of Trump’s speech Tuesday night. Green stood and shouted at Trump after the Republican president said the Nov. 5 election had delivered a governing mandate not seen for many decades.

Thank you congress and the 10 brave Democrats that voted correctly.

In the past 40 years, only 6 House members have been censured--5 Democrats. The Republican censured was Paul Gosar, whose entire family ran TV ads supporting his Congressional opponent because they knew him best.

So much for Republican courage! They never censured Matt Gaetz! They never censured Lauren Boebert, who created many scenes in the House, especially when she couldn't carry a gun there! They never censured Marjorie Taylor Greene--although I do they think they wisely removed her from committees--or maybe Democrats forced that move!

And who did the Republicans censure? Well, Schiff was censured for making "allegations" about Trump that were conclusively proven in the Mueller Report--therefore, not allegations.

Rashida Talib, a Palestinian, was censured for comments about the war? (is it a war when one side is hundreds of times more powerful than the other, and uses 100% of its power anyway?) betwen Israel and Hamas (with 3.4 Gaza residents, half of them children, collateral damage.) I would have applauded her courage.

In 2010, New York Rep. Charles Rangel was convicted of a variety of crimes, including misusing congressional letterhead for fundraising. He was also charged with soliciting millions of dollars from corporate officials and lobbyists, and failed to disclose thousands of dollars in income and assets on federally required forms, according to Politico.

Democratic Reps. Adam Schiff, Rashida Tlaib and Jamaal Bowman were all censured in 2023 after Republicans took control of the House. Schiff was censured for making allegations that Trump had benefitted from Russian interference during the 2016 presidential election. Tlaib was censured for her comments on the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas, specifically over her repeated use of the phrase “from the river to the sea,” which Democratic Rep. Brad Schneider called “a call for the destruction of Israel and murder of Jews” as he cast the party’s only vote against her.

Bowman was censured for setting off a fire alarm in the Capitol, an offense for which he pleaded guilty in a Washington, D.C. court and paid a $1,000 fine under an agreement with prosecutors.

Republican Rep. Paul Gosar was censured in 2021 for posting a video in which an animated version of the Arizona representative committed acts of violence against President Joe Biden and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Gosar was also removed from commhttps://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/which-house-members-censured-in-history-senators/3690850/

For attempting to disrupt the speech of a POTUS in prime time which he was giving to both houses of Congress and also to the American people, Rep. Al Green deserved to be censored. In fact, it is my opinion that he wanted to be censured.

Definitely wanted to play the victim. Interrupting the President then acting like a petulant child and not following House rules nor decorum.

He then used his ouster to announce for the fifth time he was filing articles of impeachment for “dastardly deeds”.

Filing articles of impeachment is his close to full time hobby. I believe this will be somewhere around the seventh time including the Presidents first time in office.

Did you guys celebrate or call for MGT and Bobart (sp?) to be censured for disrupting the SOTU multiple times? No? huh.

All the Dems in that room should have acted to be censured. A badge of honor under this criminal administration.

All he did here was pander to his extremist constituents because most sensible Americans think these actions are childish and disrespectful.

Two tiered justice? The other Rep Greene wasn't censured for her outbursts.
