  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Trump officials say the tariff levels are up to negotiation

President Donald Trump's tariffs on Mexico and Canada are set to go into effect at midnight on Tuesday, setting up a second economic showdown with America's neighbors.

Trump's administration delayed imposing 25% tariffs on Canadian and Mexican goods last month following last-minute concessions from both countries. Officials from both countries have carried out negotiations with the Trump administration in recent weeks, but no agreement to reduce the incoming tariffs has been announced.

Peter Navarro, the White House senior counselor on trade and manufacturing, defended Trump's approach to tariffs on Monday. The White House has pointed to fentanyl and other drug trafficking across both the northern and southern borders to justify the tariffs.

"If you think about the problem, it starts in communist China with the precursor chemicals. It comes into Mexico and they make the fentanyl. But they also have these pill presses. So they do the counterfeits. And they're using Canada as a transit hub and secondary point to manufacture as well. So this is a Canada-Mexico-China thing," Navarro told CNBC.

Hmmmm…..not sure how I feel about this, but I’m sure Trump knows what he is doing.
Please don't take this the wrong way, but are you serious? If so, on precisely what basis do you believe that Mr Trump knows what he's doing? If I am not mistaken, the overwhelming majority of economists think he is making a huge mistake.

Let's remember, Mr Trump has denied the manifest fact that the 2020 election was fair thereby undermining a fundamental principle of democracy, he is a convicted felon, an adjudicated sex offender, and lies compulsively. Are these the hallmarks of someone who "knows what he is doing"?

Imagine if I applied those principles when interviewing candidates for a job. "Well Mr Jones, I see that you deny reality, have been convicted of crimes, and are a sexual predator. Welcome aboard!"

First off, I can come to my own conclusions. Yes, I am serious.

I voted for Trump over the alternative, Harris.

I'm not saying he. is perfect, but I'm tired of the MSM crucifying him.

My opinion only.

When you suggest he is being crucified, you are implying that he is innocent of the charges levied against him.

Well, it is a fact that he unrepentantly lies about the 2020 election.

It is a fact that he is a convicted felon.

It is a fact that he is an adjudicated sex offender.

And so on.

I have no issue if you voted for him. But now, knowing what he is doing to the US and the rest of the world, there is no excuse for defending him.

The man is a threat to us all.

"What about x" is the most transparent of all possible evasions.

It simply does not matter what those men did or did not do - that is not what we are talking about. When you say "what about Biden" or "what about Clinton" you might as well hoist a banner that loudly proclaims "I have no defence against the accusations against Trump".

You have a right for your opinion.

I only mentioned those two other men because they indeed been accused of sexual assault.

Please be careful about how you describe public figures. It can be considered flaming per the forum rules.

Blessings
