  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Pr 14:

30 A tranquil heart gives life to the flesh, but envy makes the bones rot.
Ja 3:

16 For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.
Envy is a sin. Recognize it as such.

1Th 5:

18 Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
Give thanks for what you have. Don't envy other people's possessions.

Ps 37:

4 Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Put your hope on being happy in the Lord. He will give you the rest.

Ro 12:

15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.
Instead of envying others, rejoice with them. Cultivate a heart of generosity and joy for others. Their blessings do not diminish your own. It is not a zero-sum game. Empathize with them.

1P 4:

10 As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.
How to overcome envy?

Envy is a harmful sin. Focus on the positives: practice gratitude, rejoice with everyone, and serve others with what God has given you to fulfill your purpose.
