  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

President Donald Trump rebuked Democratic Maine Gov. Janet Mills in person on Friday and threatened to pull federal funding from her state for not complying with his executive order banning men in women's sports.

During a bipartisan National Governors Association session at the White House, Trump noted that Maine is refusing to comply with his Feb. 5 executive order titled "Keeping Men Out of Women's Sports."

"Are you not going to comply with that?" Trump asked Mills, who was sitting two tables over from his podium.

I don't agree with former man playing in women's sports but Trump over stepped his Presidential authority. Executive orders cover how the Executive branch is operated and don't have authority over State law.

Trump has a right to withhold funding if Trump sues, he'll lose, because of what Yarddog said. I believe once funding is cut the people of Maine will force the Gov hand because she's in the minority with men in women's sports.

Executive orders cover what Congress does not specially put into law. In this case Trump is being very specific, and believes that Title IX, federal law, support his Executive Order. There is nothing wrong with an E.O. that fully complies with the law. This way states like Maine, California, and Minnesota will have to take the federal government to court.

In recent years we have seen a lot of judicial activism by left wing judges. Trump has made it clear he expects to be ruled against in lower courts by some of those judges but eventually the rulings will be Constitutional.

I haven't seen any more than in right wing judges.
