  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

An employment tribunal has ruled against a Catholic teacher who sued an Anglican secondary school in Wales that had fired him for expressing his views on abortion, same-sex marriage and Shariah law.

In an Employment Tribunal decision released Monday, it was decided that The Bishop of Llandaff Church In Wales High School of Cardiff could lawfully fire Ben Dybowski.

“The claimant has a right to hold his beliefs and to manifest them but he is under the same prohibitions as the rest of society to not discriminate or harass others,” the tribunal ruled regarding Dybowski sharing his opinions online or with staff and students.

Please don't anyone think this is anti-Catholic prejudice, Anglican schools have been known to do this to Anglican teachers, and at least one Priest for the same thing.

Also do not try to make sense of it, work it out, or understand, you will hurt your head if you try. It is the world, there is something wrong with it.

People cannot have opinions now or others get offended, eh? People are too thin skinned these days!
I think it’s nefarious when you try to take livelihood away. He did not say anything that went against the faith.

The LGBT and liberals et al want everyone to conform to their disordered worldview. It’s so incredibly stupid.

"Judge Samantha Moore said that while Mr Dybowski’s views on marriage, abortion and gender amounted to protected beliefs, his expressed views on Sharia law were deemed an opinion and thus were not protected." Catholic teacher sacked after sharing views on abortion, same-sex marriage at diversity training day - Catholic Herald

If I try to explain, we have this thing called "protected charecteristics", it refers to any natural unchangeable attribute, such as race, disability, and also whatever you have a human right to, such as religion, or a previous nationality. It is illegal to different degrees depending on what the deed was, to attack someone for a "protected charectistic". It causes no end of confusion among all our law enforcers, from police to judges. I am no lawyer, but this looks to me like the judge declared every one of Mr Dybowski’s Catholic beliefs fine, protected characteristics, until it came to his objection to stoning people to death for homosexuality...whereupon for some reason that was interpreted as apparently as him being prejudiced against Muslims.

This is the reccuring problem with the law as it is, one persons protected characteristic is another persons attacking them for their own protected characteristic. It goes on in every direction. I don't know if it is thin skinned, so much as believing that everyone can be free without anyone ever annoying anyone else is just deluded. How am I supposed to be a theist myself, without that really upsetting the nearest anti-theist?
