  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

In Gethsemane, Mk 14:

33 He took with him Peter and James and John, and began to be greatly distressed and troubled. 34 And he said to them, “My soul is very sorrowful, even to death. Remain here and watch.”
Those were overwhelming emotions, but fear was not listed.

Parallel account in Mt 26:

37 Taking with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to be sorrowful and troubled. 38 Then he said to them, “My soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain here, and watch with me.”
Lk 22:

44 And being in agony he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

Jesus was apprehensive but just short of fear.

Was Jesus afraid in the Garden of Gethsemane?

Some scholars think so but I don't. I'd stick to word precision in answering this question.
