Removing the Palestinians from the Gaza Strip??

Although Trump's plan to "take over the Gaza Strip" is novel, it would walk
all over international law, and create havoc with the advance that had been
made between some of the Middle East countries, and Israel.

This plan to export Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, is a plan that physically
cannot work. Jordan and Egypt do not have the water, or farmable land, to
support the Palestinians. Promising the Palestinians "some wonderful place to live",
is a cynical avoidance of the problem.

There is the obvious difficulty that this American plan ignores international
law. This international lawlessness, will eventually come home to roost in
the form of lawlessness in America. We have begun to see that in American
politics.

But also, this American plan is emotionally attractive to many emotionally
exhausted Israelis, who have put up with Islamic violence for decades. And
although the far right in Israel like this plan, it is about the worst option, for a
lasting peace in Palestine. And, it is about the most efficient way to undercut
the structure of peace among Middle East countries, that America has been
working for, for decades.

Hamas in the Gaza strip has already refilled its ranks, replacing the violent
reactionairies that Israel has killed in the war over Gaza. So, what has been
gained?

The Middle East needs a lasting peace -- not foreign billionaires who
promise the Palestinians a Ford 150, under every fig tree.
