  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Happy Sabbath!

Gen 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished. 2 And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.

Exo 20:8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

Isa 56:1 Thus says the Lord:

“Keep justice, and do righteousness,
For My salvation is about to come,
And My righteousness to be revealed.

2 Blessed is the man who does this,
And the son of man who lays hold on it;
Who keeps from defiling the Sabbath,
And keeps his hand from doing any evil.”

6 “Also the sons of the foreigner
Who join themselves to the Lord, to serve Him,
And to love the name of the Lord, to be His servants—
Everyone who keeps from defiling the Sabbath,
And holds fast My covenant

Isa 58: 13 “If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath,
From doing your pleasure on My holy day,
And call the Sabbath a delight,
The holy day of the Lord honorable,
And shall honor Him, not doing your own ways,
Nor finding your own pleasure,
Nor speaking your own words,
14 Then you shall delight yourself in the Lord;
And I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth,
And feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father.
The mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

Eze 20:12 Moreover I also gave them My Sabbaths, to be a sign between them and Me, that they might know that I am the Lord who sanctifies them

Eze 20:20 hallow My Sabbaths, and they will be a sign between Me and you, that you may know that I am the Lord your God.’

Mark 2:27 And He said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. 28 Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath.”

Heb 4:4 For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: “And God rested on the seventh day from all His works”;
Heb 4: 9 There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; 10 for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his.

Isa 66:23
And it shall come to pass
That from one New Moon to another,
And from one Sabbath to another,
All flesh shall come to worship before Me,” says the Lord.

From the beginning to the end God blessed the Sabbath day and sanctified it- meaning to put aside for holy use. Thank you God for your Sabbath blessing to rest in your Word through your Spirit so we never forget where we came from and Who made and redeems us.

The question is did God bless the day He rested and then all seventh days? Or did He mean only the day He rested? It surely doesn't seem to mean every seventh day and there is nothing said about the seventh day until God had the Israelites stop and rest after crossing the Red Sea where they were safe from attack by the Egyptians. God didn't have them rest on the seventh days during their flight out of Egypt now did He?

Israelites were slaves and had no rest. God demanded that they take time off and remember His leading them out of bondage. Deut 5

Once again using Is 66 as a reference must be accompanied with all of the New Earth promises Isaiah wrote about. In Is 65 concerning the New Earth He wrote that man would live to over 100 and if he didn't it was because he was cursed. Apparently, man, according to Isaiah, will have the ability to sin and will sin. Babies born in Heaven will not die as an infant. I do not believe you have ever explained those verses. You just keep using Is 65 as some sort of a proof text that everyone will come before God and then go out amongst the dead bodies.

Gentiles, if they wished, could join ranks with the Israelites according to scripture. That does not take away the fact that God has never asked Gentile nations to keep the ceremonial laws given only to Israel. Whether you agree or not the Sabbath
was a ceremonial law.

You like to quote Mark 2:27 as one of your "proof texts". If Jesus meant that to mean all mankind why is there no proof of any other nation ever having a seventh-day sabbath law. Jesus told the disciples to go into all the World and spread the Good News. There is no proof anywhere that it included Sabbath observance.
