We Are Witnessing a Cultural Shift

I love Bill Donohue. I was a member of his Catholic League for many years.

I was only think about this recently with the US election and whats happening in world politics which is similar to the US in that many nations in Europe, Canada, Britain had Left leaning governments and now they are facing defeat due to years of Leftist policies like open borders and slack on law and order as well as identity politics.

I think what we have witnessed is the peak of Left ideology that began after the cultural revolutions of the 60s. From then it was into academia to tach a new generation the ideology. From this came the Critical theories and then DEI and Woke which exploded into society around post 2000.

Being an ideology (not based in reality) this was a good example of social engineering from within. Almost a religious movement. But in some ways a natural reaction to a different culture that was more traditional and conservative and usually Christain.

But as with cultural swings they can end up going to the extremes. Instead of fixing the problem and rebalancing nature ideologues go to the extreme suplanting a replacement ideology. But an ideology nonetheless.

So as ideology is out of whack with reality sooner or later glitches appear in the matrix and people begin to see its unreality. THis has been happening for around the last few years as more and more Left narratives are exposed for being just that narratives and not reality.

I think Left leaning governments have been in long enough to have allowed Left ideology such as Woke to develop to the point that they self imploded.

So in many ways this change in government and ideology was overdue. People had already see through the charade and so it came a s a bit of an onslaught and now has gained momentum as people feel almost relieved to not have to pretend anymore.

I would imagine this is a earth shattering paradigm shift for many who hated Trump. But its not Trump but rather an entire cultural shift that had been coming for a while.

Now the worry will be on the other foot. Whether the Right goes too far rather than keep things balanced.

Lord, I hope so. I grew up during the Age of Aquarius, as the Pepsi Generation was groovin' to the Summer of Love and were wearing Flowers in Their Hair. The aftermath was detrimental to the society as a whole, I believe.

I remember watching the riots on TV during the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago. My father (a World War II veteran) stood there with a mixed expression of disgust and appalled anger on his face; he turned to my uncle (another World War II veteran), pointed at the TV, and said, "THAT'S what we went overseas and won the war for, Bernie! Makes you wonder why the hell we bothered!"

If we have seen the high tide of that nonsense that started in the 60s and now the mess is receding, I can only rejoice. It's been way past due for a long time now.

Wow the Pepsi generation lol. I was a pre teen in that generation but was absorbed into by my teens. I think I coped the afterparty of the 70's lol when we began to burn out and have done every since but only the trip is getting worse as we go along.

But yeah I reckon the signs are there. There will definitely be a change in the US which is the dominant western nation because there has been a change in government. Except like I said because politics has become so polarised due to the Lefts pushing of identity politics the change is more profound than usual.

The Left have yet to fully concede they were out of touch. But they will eventually. Hopefully they become strong again as we need good opposition.

But my concern is that the Left are a progressive party so I am not sure they will every accept God. So whatever it is they come up with next its going to be moe of the same progressive anti God and religion ideas. Maybe they will revert to a more ultalitarian approach.

BUt the main issue I see is that any nation that will be strong has a united belief in something. Usually their own national identity. BUt also a religious or ideological belief beyond society itself that is the greater good. Unless people can find that common ground theres going to be more division. Not just in the US but all western nations.

Yeah I think the further we move away from those times when everyone had to pull together and there was a common cause and hope the nation was strong.

I think it will come back to an extent. You can already see the optimism and changes. Just how far it goes or whether these changes may lead to greater division is hard to tell. Sometimes when people are so deeply entrenched in ideology they bunker down and even become subversive in their resistence.

But I think the majority is too strong and changes will come. There will be some rebalancing. Hopefully not too far the other way lol. Otherwisde that just sets up for the next round of extreme fall out.

Thats right when Michael Jackson burnt his hair. I found another one which is suppose to have Tom Selleck in it. Maybe the main guy drinking the pepsi.

We didn't get many Pepsi promos in Australia. Mainly Coke I think.
