  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My dad is dying. :(

Oh no :(
I don't want to sound bad but did the morphine cause his ragged breathing and inability to wake up, or would it have happened anyway?
LB, labored breathing is pretty much a given. Unless it’s sudden death, it takes a lot of time and work when the body is shutting down. Continued prayers for Chrystal and her dad. :praying:

My dad just passed away. I appreciate all your prayers and kind words. I had a Mass for him today at church. My sister and niece attended. I'm hoping my siblings have some kind of service for him. My mom requested no service, so there was a void there.
Thanks again everyone.

I appreciate all your prayers. I guess my siblings are going to have a "celebration of life" at a restaurant in 2 weeks. That's better than nothing. If I get anything from the estate, I'm going to buy both of my parents a burial plot and give them a final resting place.

Was your dad a vet by any chance?

Yes, he was. But not in combat.
You can get free plots through the VA for your father and mother both along with a free stone. It does not matter if he served in combat or not.

My stepdad was a veteran. We got his plot as well as my mothers when she passes free. Also a free stone which they engrave. The cremains will be put in the plot and buried. Free of charge for veterans and their spouse. Same for those that choose traditional burial. Call the VA or even your local funeral home and they will guide you. :praying:

@Chrystal-J

Here is what to expect. Your mother’s engraving would be on the other side.
