Hello, brothers and sisters in Christ!
Psalm 119:105 says, "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."
This verse has always reminded me of how vital God’s Word is in guiding our lives, especially in uncertain times. It offers clarity, direction, and hope.
I’d love to hear your thoughts:
  • How has God’s Word been a "lamp" in your life?
  • What are some ways we can rely more on Scripture for guidance in our daily decisions?
Looking forward to learning from your insights! God bless!

There is no end of what is meant and what one learns. As Moses said, even about just the law, and not the New Testament, "These are not just words for you —they are your life!"

"For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen."

The things I have tried to learn have not produced quite what I thought I was looking for, but have produced much more and better —to get to know HIM. "For it is God who works in you both to will and to do according to HIS good purposes." (my emphasis)

I thought I was not getting the path lit before me, to follow it. But the path was not where I thought it was.

Thank you, Mark, for your thoughtful response! I love the reminder that God’s Word is not just guidance but life itself. The verse you shared, “For it is God who works in you both to will and to do according to His good purposes,” is a powerful encouragement.

Your insight about the path not being where you thought it would be resonates with me. Sometimes, it feels like we’re walking in the dark, but God’s Word keeps us moving forward step by step. How have you learned to trust God when His path took you in an unexpected direction?

Thank you again for sharing—it’s a blessing to learn from your experiences!

Scripture is Permanently Honest, Truthful, and is The Creator's Revelation to little children who trust Him. It is unchanged in thousands of years (despite what the enemy promotes otherwise).

The Jews Trust The Creator Because He is Unchanging, Unchangeable, Totally Truthful, Totally Competant , Absolutely Righteous, and Comforting us wee ones so small in this dark dangerous world/society.

Mostly , trust Jesus, Read The Bible thru and thru, never lie, and never harm anyone. Always DO as God Says Do. (Being Doers of His Command, and not just hearers).
He has said so. He has accomplished this , He has planned all this, His Way, in Yeshua, and He comforts us, keeps us, protects us, strengthens us DAILY DAILY DAILY, Day after Day as He Says.

Thank you, Aaron, for your thoughtful response! I love how you emphasized that Scripture is permanently honest and unchanging—it’s such a comforting truth in a world that often feels uncertain and chaotic.

I also appreciate your reminder to be "doers of His Word" and not just hearers. That’s such an important call to action in living out our faith. Have you found any specific passages of Scripture that have especially strengthened you in your daily walk with Christ?

Thank you again for sharing—it’s always a blessing to learn from your wisdom and insights. God bless you!

I believe also that God's Word can light our every step and guides us in the way of Life, if it be that we are humble, listening to and following Lord Jesus by faith.

Isaiah 66:2 For my hand has made all these things, and so they came to be,” says Yahweh: “but I will look to this man, even to he who is poor and of a contrite spirit, and who trembles at my word.

John 10:27 My sheep listen my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them [who listen and follow him] Eternal Life.

The word "light" is explained in God's Word as a life of the righteousness of love, of which hangs all of the Law and the prophets.

Romans 13:8 (NKJV) Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law.

If anyone repents, turns from sin toward God, listening to and following Jesus as Lord, then we are sanctifying ourselves to God in a life of righteousness and love. This is the path of Light, and is Life.

John 8:12 (WEB) “I am the light of the world. [Isaiah 60:1] He who follows me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Thank you, sets777, for sharing such wonderful insights and Scriptures! I really appreciate how you’ve emphasized humility and repentance as key to walking in the light and life of Jesus. The connection between listening to His voice (John 10:27) and following Him is so powerful—it’s such a reminder of the intimacy we are called to have with the Lord.

I also love how you brought in John 8:12—Jesus truly is the light of the world, and following Him keeps us from walking in darkness. Have there been moments in your life where a specific passage of God’s Word illuminated a decision or brought clarity in a challenging time?

Thank you again for sharing these verses and insights—they are such an encouragement to reflect on! God bless you!

Thank you, Aaron, for sharing this important reminder! Scripture does indeed give us many serious warnings about the love of money, like in 1 Timothy 6:10, where it says, “For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil.” It’s such a powerful lesson to keep our hearts focused on God rather than worldly wealth.

Have there been any specific verses or personal experiences that have helped you stay grounded in this truth? I’d love to hear more about how God has guided you in this area.

God bless!
It may be worth considering that the " Word of God" ,in this Psalm ,is the direct communication David enjoyed through God’s Holy Spirit. We as Christians now enjoy His indwelling, which is that "light" , within us today. The written word documents the history of our Creator, His commandments, His chosen people , His comming in the flesh and His final solution for mankind. The Bible holds no power, as a person can be a scholar of scripture and yet be agnostic at the same time , ( Bart Ehrman).
" Logos" is Jesus Christ of Nazareth, His Holy Spirit. The Lamp is Him and we are the bearers of His Light.
You are the light of the world... let your light shine before others."

Blessings

Thank you, Maria, for sharing such a rich and thoughtful perspective! I love how you highlighted the connection between the "Word of God" in Psalm 119:105 and the direct communication David enjoyed through God’s Holy Spirit. It’s such a beautiful reminder of how we now have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit guiding us daily.

I also appreciate how you brought out the role of Jesus as the Logos and how we, as His followers, are called to be the bearers of His light. The verse you referenced, “You are the light of the world... let your light shine before others” (Matthew 5:14-16), is such a powerful encouragement for us to live out our faith boldly.

How do you think we, as believers, can practically reflect His light in our daily lives, especially in a world that often feels so dark?

Thank you again for sharing your insights—they’re such a blessing to reflect on. God bless you!

It is important to keep in mind that David, after his great sin involving Bathsheba, only had the assurance of Life in the Spirit after he repented and turned back to God from his wickedness. And that is what the NT in Christ teaches us as well; in that, only as we the Christian continues in the faith, confessing any sin(s) of weakness, that Christians are cleansed from all sins, and they continue to possess the light of life from the indwelling Spirit.

1 John 1:5-7 (WEB) 5 This is the message which we have heard from him and announce to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6 If we [Christians] say that we have fellowship with him and walk in the darkness, we lie, and don’t tell the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.

The Christian continues to possess life/light by the indwelling Spirit as the Christian continues to live, walk, sow to the Spirit who indwells them.

Romans 8:12-14 Therefore, brothers and sisters, we [Christians] are obligated, but it is not to the flesh to live according to it. 13 For if you live according to the flesh, you will Die. But if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will Live. 14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.

Galatians 6:7-9 Admonition the Christians Paul is writing to: 7 Do not be deceived. God is not mocked! For whatever a man sows, he will also reap. 8 He who sows to his flesh will from the flesh reap corruption. But he who sows to the Spirit will {{{from the Spirit}}} reap Eternal Life. 9 Let {{{us}}} not be weary in doing good, for {{{we}}} will reap in due season, {{{if we}}} do not give up.

Galatians 5:24-25 Those who belong to Christ [saved] have crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts. 25 If we [Paul includes himself] live by the Spirit, let us [Paul includes himself] also keep in step with the Spirit.

For, is it not true that Spirit-indwelt Christians can also resist the Spirit when they grieve (Ephesians 4:17-32), quench (1 Thessalonians 5:19), insult/enrage (Hebrews 10:24-31), reject (1 Thessalonians 4:1-8), and test (Acts 5:3, 9) the Spirit who indwells and gives life by our faith?

1 Thessalonians 4:7-8 … 7 For God did not call us [Christians] to be impure, but to live a sanctified life. 8 Therefore, anyone who rejects this instruction rejects God, not man. This is the very God who gives to you his Holy Spirit.

Christians walk in the Spirit (Light) as they continue in the faith, following Lord Jesus into a sanctified life in the righteousness of Love.

1 Peter 1:14-16 Admonishing Christians 14 as children of obedience, not conforming yourselves according to your former lusts as in your ignorance, 15 but just as he who called you is holy, you yourselves also be holy in all your behavior; 16 For it is written, “You shall be holy; for I am holy.” [Leviticus 11:44-45]

Thank you, sets777, for such a thoughtful and Scripture-filled response! I really appreciate how you’ve highlighted the assurance of life in the Spirit and the importance of walking in the light through repentance and faith. The way you connected David’s repentance to our daily walk with Christ is such a powerful reminder of God’s mercy and grace.

I found 1 John 1:5-7 especially encouraging, where it says that if we walk in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin. It’s such a beautiful picture of God’s faithfulness as we strive to stay close to Him.

I’d love to hear your thoughts—what do you think are some practical ways we can “walk in the Spirit” daily, as Paul encourages in Galatians 5:24-25?

Thank you again for sharing these insights—your post is such a blessing to reflect on! God bless you!

Love is the answer.
Thank you, Maria! That’s such a beautiful and powerful reminder—indeed, love is the answer. Jesus Himself said that the two greatest commandments are to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind, and to love our neighbor as ourselves (Matthew 22:37-39).

When we walk in love, we reflect God’s light because, as 1 John 4:16 reminds us, “God is love.” Whether it’s showing kindness, forgiveness, or compassion, every act of love points others to Him.

How do you think we can practically show God’s love to others in our everyday lives, especially when faced with challenges or resistance?

Thank you again for your inspiring words—they’re always a blessing. God bless you!

Your insight about the path not being where you thought it would be resonates with me. Sometimes, it feels like we’re walking in the dark, but God’s Word keeps us moving forward step by step. How have you learned to trust God when His path took you in an unexpected direction?
@THE part highlighted, I can't say I have learned to trust God when what I thought was happening took an unexpected turn. On the other hand, that unexpected turn pretty much represents my life, so....

Trying to think what to tell you here. I guess I have found myself more often thanking God for the little things. And I can't tell you how many times it is not sudden change, but the constant drudgery of hopeless agony of spirit in my own disobedience, not to mention my disappointment —what a silly word!— with the Christendom I thought was mature and worth following. What I thought (and was taught) that would be constant growth —theology's word, "Sanctification"— sometimes more represents a "one step forward, two steps back" descent into rejection of the Spirit's urgings and nudging, into a sort of madness, through which I see God's grace as a power beyond description. I can only hope he sees all this 'growth/descent' differently from me, but one thing is for SURE. Any good in it, or through it, or from it, is HIS doing. And when we finally see him as he is, nobody will be able to hold me back until my turn to thank him.

Oh, too, there is the fact of a changed focus concerning that thing we make so much of —eternal security: I hate it how people take what I'm going to say, like I think I've achieved some kind of elevated piety or something, but I am rarely afraid anymore concerning to whom I belong, and that is not because of my faithfulness —nor even because of his faithfulness, in that sense. It's the knowing that HE is satisfied with what HE is doing that matters most, anymore, (and HIS satisfaction is certainly not at risk, ha!); and THAT, I have not been able to completely remove from my sight, even when I try to. My apologies for this, but, my feeling (here in this life) on this is that even if I am not ultimately one of the members of Christ, but rather consigned to reprobation, I am satisfied that he is doing what he set out to do, and that, for his own sake—not so much for my sake. (And, yes, I know that if I am not ultimately his, I will not feel that way, but will hate him with all I am.)

One of my happiest thoughts is that I could be fooling myself in all this, and have this all wrong, which just proves to me again, that being entirely dependent on his mercy is the safest place to be, and the most satisfying.

You may also identify with this, which I must say to my shame: Consistent with my apparent descent into unfaithfulness, is the need for sanity's sake to abandon my trust in what I thought were the parameters of righteousness, and just hang onto him for dear life. If God is after me getting to know his purity and power and grace, more than for me to live up to what I thought I was supposed to, and what I had called obedience, even, then I am thrown into another unknown arena (coliseum), which is also entirely his, and it is his thumbs up or down that defines his use of me. And that is completely good, I say.

Thank you so much, Mark, for sharing your heart with such honesty and depth. Your reflections on trusting God, even when life takes unexpected turns, are incredibly moving and relatable. I especially appreciated your point about sanctification being a process of “one step forward, two steps back” at times—it’s such a humbling reminder of how much we depend on God’s grace.

I also found your thoughts on God’s sovereignty and mercy deeply comforting. It’s amazing to think that even when we feel like we’re faltering, His plans for us are secure, and His grace is sufficient. As you said, any good in us or through us is entirely His doing, and that truth fills me with gratitude.

Your mention of finding peace in simply holding onto God, rather than relying on our own righteousness, really struck a chord with me. It reminds me of 2 Corinthians 12:9, where Paul says, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

Thank you again for sharing such inspiring words. How do you think we can grow in our trust in God’s sovereignty, especially during seasons of uncertainty? Your perspective is such a blessing—God bless you!

My thoughts are on how Paul, in the previous verses before "Galatians 5:24-25," describes the ways Christians walk in the Spirit and those Christians who are instead walking in the flesh as follows:

Galatians 5:13-25 (NIV) Paul addressing and admonishing born-again believers who have the Spirit

13 You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. 14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” 15 If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.

16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other. You are not to do whatever you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you [Christians], as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we [Christians] live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

Lord Jesus describes, and gives us examples, of the ways we walk in the Spirit, which is the way of love, and by which we manifest that we possess eternal life as follows:

Matthew 25:31-46 (WEB)
31 “But when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then he will sit on the throne of his glory. 32 Before him all the nations will be gathered, and he will separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

34 Then the King will tell those on his right hand, ‘Come, blessed of my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; 35 for I was hungry and you gave me food to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me drink. I was a stranger and you took me in. 36 I was naked and you clothed me. I was sick and you visited me. I was in prison and you came to me.’

37 “Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you a drink? 38 When did we see you as a stranger and take you in, or naked and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and come to you?’

40 “The King will answer them, ‘Most certainly I tell you, because you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’

41 Then he will say also to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels; 42 for I was hungry, and you didn’t give me food to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink; 43 I was a stranger, and you didn’t take me in; naked, and you didn’t clothe me; sick, and in prison, and you didn’t visit me.’

44 “Then they will also answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and didn’t help you?’

45 “Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Most certainly I tell you, because you didn’t do it to one of the least of these, you didn’t do it to me.’ 46 These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

In addition, I cannot think of a better way to share the love of God to others then, in humbleness of heart and wisdom, we share the Gospel with others in the way God himself reveals it to us in the NT, so they also may be saved. Sharing well thought out Gospel tracts are good ice-breakers when approaching others to share the Gospel. I like the Christian tracts by Chick.com because of the illustrations.

1 Peter 3:15 Be ready to make a scholarly [well thought out] defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, but with gentleness and respect

Sharing the Gospel must always include a call to repentance for our sins to be blotted out, because without repentance, faith is disingenuous, and so, faith without repentance is not the kind of faith God seeks or grants eternal life.

Luke 24:46-47 (ESV) 46 “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead [the Gospel], 47 and that repentance for the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.”

Acts 3:19 … 19 “Repent therefore, and be converted [sanctified], that your sins may be blotted out

Acts 20:20-21 … 20 I did not shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable, teaching you publicly and from house to house, 21 testifying both to Jews and to Greeks repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus [sanctification].

Acts 26:20 ... I declared first in Damascus, at Jerusalem, and throughout all the country of Judea, and also to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God [turn from darkness to light by the Gospel] doing works worthy of repentance. [sanctification]

2 Corinthians 7:10 (WEB) 10 For godly sorrow produces repentance to salvation, which brings no regret. But the sorrow of the world produces death.

By this repentant faith, God indwells us by His Spirit to give true believers eternal life.

Acts 2:37-38 … 37 Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” 38 Peter replied, “Repent, and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 5:32 (KJV) 32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

John 14:15-17 (Young’s Literal Translation) 15 `If you love me, keep my commands, 16 and I will ask the Father, and another Comforter He will give to you, that he may remain with you -- to the age; 17 the Spirit of truth

A true believer is a Christian, which means, he is now a disciple (follower) of Lord Jesus - having died to the old life of sin, and now lives to follow Lord Jesus into a sanctified [separated] life onto the righteousness of love.

Acts 11:26 The disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.

Matthew 10:38 (WEB) 38 He who doesn’t take his cross and follow after me is not worthy of me.

Matthew 28:19-20 (WEB) 19 Go and make disciples of all nations

This is "The Faith" of the Gospel by which God chooses to forgive and save the sinner.

Living within are corrupted flesh, and in a corrupt world, is a test of our faith in Lord Jesus. At times, we will stumble, but if the true disciple repents, and continues on the path of Light, then he remains sanctified to God, being cleansed from all sins.

Thank you again for sharing these insights—your post is such a blessing to reflect on! God bless you!

Blessings in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior
