  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is Trump a Godly leader?

Do you remember your own opening post?

I believed we were discussing President Trump.

Your original post asks: Is President Trump considered a godly leader? The answer is NO. President Trump is not a godly leader because he is not a Christian.
I could think of a few hundred other reasons, too. By their works you will know them.

What fruit does economic complaints, fears, worries and strife bear?
Fruits could be laid off workers, homeless refugees, incompetent department heads, the hatred and disrespect of our allies, terrified immigrants and children...
Fruits like that.

No. Fruits are not complaints, worry, fear, or discontentment. The church is not America

I don't think Trump is a church leader or a Godly leader, he's demonstrated that he doesn't understand the Gospel (he defined it as if he was a good person, he would go to heaven). But that doesn't mean God can't or won't use him for His own purposes. Also, Trump speaks and acts mostly in a pro-Christian manner*, so if he's not against us, he's for us, I'd say.

*meaning he supports and protects many Christian issues. Pardoning the pro-life protestors, for example.

But if a politician is leading us to worry, argue, fear, or complain about the economy, jobs, money, and taxes, then hes not for the kingdom of God. He's not for me

It's like people don't seek the kingdom and God's righteousness as Jesus said. Jesus promised that God would take care of us, so why do we concern ourselves with economics? Why are we arguing over jobs, taxes, money, and the economy? It's like God is not taking care of us.

God's been taking care of me so far. Every day you have to take up your faith though.

Yes amen. And we take up our cross. We don't complain, argue, fear or worry about the cares of this life. We endure trials and tribulation. We are hated, cast out, rejected, and hard pressed on every side, but it's all good. When we get love in our hearts we rejoice.

This thread that was recently started also seems relevant to this topic. Again, while I don't see Trump as a spiritual leader, if he's on our side, he isn't against us:

Trump task force on anti-Christian bias will review policies of FBI, DOJ, other agencies
So if he's not on Jesus side then he is against us? Politicians lead us away from faith and obedience buy sowing economic fear, complaints, worries and strife. Trump isn't Savior of America. God is in control.

I believe in God's "permissive will." If I really believed Trump's victory was part of some sick trick to destroy our democracy I would have a huge crisis of faith.
It's on you, voters. Jesus weeps.

No. I doubt that is true. Put faith in God and don't worry about politics.
