  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Thank goodness the two-dozen people this stigmatizes won’t affect my life in any way!

Isn't it interesting how two-dozen people caused such a movement of advocacy to rise up? I mean on the one hand, you seem to be implying that legislation is not required because there are only two-dozen people affected. But on the other, our school district recently had to decide if they would adopt the new Title IX language or risk losing federal funding for "discriminating" against boys in girls sports. Even before Trump was elected, the school board heard from over a hundred parents who ultimately roundly rejected that ridiculous agenda.

So I reject your hypothesis that this only affects "two-dozen people". There may only be two-dozen transgender athletes that inspired the changes in the Title IX language, but anyone who has children attending public schools is "affected" by this legislation.

Yes, let's follow the science. The tests you site are from the IBA, which is on the outs with the IOC for these tests. The test did show her to have male chromosomes, but she was born with female sex organs. This happens, it is natural and is called Swyer syndrome.

Are you going to call every woman that has XY chromosomes a man and every male that has XX a female? And what about XXY, XYY, etc? This is not as straightforward as you are claiming.

Alun Williams, professor of sports and exercise genomics at Manchester Metropolitan University, said that when considering if a person had an unfair advantage it was necessary to look at chromosomes, levels of testosterone and other hormones, as well as the body's response to testosterone.
"That then is a clinical assessment, which is really very invasive," Williams said. "Simply looking at someone's sex chromosomes ... is incomplete."

Are you suggesting that rules and policies should be based on edge cases?

No, I am saying that edge cases will exist and one test is not enough to consider if someone is male or female. In this case just looking at the sex chromosomes is not enough.

It's soooo wonderful that Trump has protected all the women and girls performing in the NCAA...all 510,000 of them....

From those scary 10 transgenders who are OBVIOUSLY going to be better at them at everything because men are inherently better at all sports then women.

I wonder how these Transgendered folks rank in their prospective sports! I mean, OBVIOUSLY they have to be #1.
