Brother, I mean they translated the message "to mean something quite different" from the original message as expressed in the following passage.
And remember, our Lord’s patience gives people time to be saved. This is what our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you with the wisdom God gave him— speaking of these things in all of his letters. Some of his comments are hard to understand, and those who are ignorant and unstable have twisted his letters to mean something quite different, just as they do with other parts of Scripture. And this will result in their destruction. You already know these things, dear friends. So be on guard; then you will not be carried away by the errors of these lawless (athesmos) people and lose your own secure footing. Rather, you must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. All glory to him, both now and forever! Amen. (2 Peter 3:15-18 NLT fixed)
The King James Version uses the word “gospel” to change the entire message, from the belief needed to correct Joshua’s past misunderstanding of the Sabbath to whether a Jew believes in Jesus today. Perhaps a simplification of the KJV message as different from the NLT will help you understand what I mean by the KJV twisting words to change the message against the context by inserting Jesus into the message about the “good news” of the Sabbath in the book of Hebrews. The original message speaks of a past error by "Joshua" about the Sabbath, but the KJV translators want it instead to be about future belief in Jesus by Jews today, inserting Jesus into the context of an error that began before “David” with "Joshua" and not after “David” with Jesus.
God want you to enter the corrected good news of the Sabbath "rest" Joshua got wrong before David. (the NLT's simplified message)
The KJV translators then translated the original message mentioned above against the context, changing the message from past misunderstanding about the Sabbath to future belief in Jesus by the Jews.
Jesus is the Sabbath "rest" the Jews have not entered that we have already entered into. (the KJV's simplified message)
We know it refers to “Joshua” because God is giving a second chance after “David,” telling us that the error in the Sabbath began with “Joshua” before “David” and not with Jesus who came after “David.” Translating Jesus is going against the context that God is giving a second chance after “David” for an error with the Sabbath that happened before "David" and not after "David".
God’s promise of entering his rest still stands, so we ought to tremble with fear that some of you might fail to experience it. For this good news—that God has prepared this rest—has been announced to us just as it was to them. But it did them no good because they didn’t share the faith of those who listened to God. For only we who believe can enter his rest. As for the others, God said, “In my anger I took an oath: ‘They will never enter my place of rest,’” even though this rest has been ready since he made the world. We know it is ready because of the place in the Scriptures where it mentions the seventh day: “On the seventh day God rested from all his work.” But in the other passage God said, “They will never enter my place of rest.” So God’s rest is there for people to enter, but those who first heard this good news failed to enter because they disobeyed God. So God set another time for entering his rest, and that time is today. God announced this through David much later in the words already quoted: “Today when you hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts.” Now if Joshua had succeeded in giving them this rest, God would not have spoken about another day of rest still to come. So there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God. For all who have entered into God’s rest have rested from their labors, just as God did after creating the world. So let us do our best to enter that rest. But if we disobey God, as the people of Israel did, we will fall. (Hebrews 4:1-11 NLT)
Going against context is twisting the words in the translation to give a completely different message than what was in the original message. Jesus is not in the original message of the Sabbath error that began with "Joshua", but the KJV inserted Jesus, against context, to alter the message from an error in the past with the understanding of the Sabbath by "Joshua" to whether Jews believe or not in Jesus as we do.
