  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Trump says U.S. will take over Gaza Strip after relocating all Palestinians

“We’ll own it and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous unexploded bombs and other weapons on the site, level the site, and get rid of the destroyed buildings — level it out and create an economic development that will supply unlimited numbers of jobs and housing for the people of the area.”
American citizens were seized and the U.S. and thus America was made part of the war. Trump is stepping up. Different countries in the Middle East should take them. If need be perhaps a section of land in Greenland would work for relocation of the rest. Trump also suggested that the area may become the "Riviera" of the Middle East.

Interesting, he still seemed to be in his decision making process this afternoon. Wondered how that was going to pan out.
Trump is just the person to be able to get other countries involved.

Trump's plan is a very steep sell to the Arab side - neither Hamas, Egypt or Jordan will be supporting this; so it will require some extreme strong-arming, financial pressure and even military force to make that happen.

On the other hand - the Gazan population may have to get used to the fact the rest of the world is not going to pay for their livelihood, education, healthcare and rebuilding their area forever (like has happened in the past 70 years). The world does not owe them that. So what are their options?

I think this is too complex of a problem to be solved with a simple solution like Trump suggested.. I think he may have spoke too soon
This might be a trolling strategy to get some feedback.

I’m not trolling. I supported Trump, I think he’s done a great job, but I think this is a stretch
I was talking about Trump trolling to get a reaction like he always does.

The two-state solution is dead following the Hamas attack. Israel's actions have also dismantled more substantial Iranian proxies like Hezbollah and Assad. Gaza is a ruin and the demographic projections for the next 20 years point to a massive rise in Palestinian numbers. So where is the money coming for that and is it ethical to put them back in such a cage? Trump's solution would mean that Palestinians could emigrate, get jobs, get on with real life rather than sacrificing themselves for a pointless ideological struggle they will never win. In that sense, it seems a humane response to the opportunity of the current ruins. That said real estate development in Israel is generally surrounded by barbed wire and a terrorist target so the returns might not be as bountiful as he hopes. Also, are we talking about American sovereignty over Gaza? Is this a new kind of American expansion that might eventually include Greenland, the Panama Canal, the Chagos islands, Gaza, and even Canada being annexed?

Perhaps Trump's current threat, may be just BullSpeak.

But Americans should know, that NO MUSLIM COUNTRY AROUND PALESTINE,
HAS WANTED TO TAKE IN PALESTINIANS. And this, despite the surrounding
Muslim countries claiming to be in some sort of Muslim unity with the
Palestinians.

Egypt and Jordan cannot now sustain their current populations. There is not
enough water in the region....

Perhaps, Trump should suggest that Communist China take in all the
Palestinians in Gaza, to increase the dropping population of Communist
China. (That was a cynical joke. The Chinese do not want more revolutionary
Muslims, within their border.)

I don't think that fantasizing by a real estate developer, is going to solve
the massive problems of the Near East.

They've been trying to solve it for over 70 years. Trump's not going to solve it overnight

Sounds like another chance for him to bankrupt another business opportunity.

Most likely Trump made the statement as a tactic to get the Arab nations to do the job of
rebuilding Gaza and stopping Hamas from attacking Isael.

The media falls for Trump's tactics like they did over the tariffs on Canada and Mexico.

Maybe under Trump, America won't be treated as a nation of fools?

All 2 million Palestinians in Gaza are only 2% of the population of Egypt - this should be an achievable goal especially since Egypt used to own the place. But they would need to break up the communities to prevent the kind of revolutionary attempts that occurred in Jordan. The USA could always withdraw the subsidy they give the country if they do not cooperate.

Desalination is the only way they are going to solve the water problem across the region.

Yes, their well water is poor quality. Malta, also heavily populated, would be a good model, although there they can re-circulate the water.

Certainly getting ideas out there promotes more alternative ideas.

It may be part of the "art of the deal" he's always spruiking about. Throw the deal on the table and then see what happens.

I see nothing good coming out of it.
