  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi, everybody. I have not posted in a long time. A lot has happened, and currently I am living in a shelter for homeless women & children, while my fiancée is on the streets. I'll be honest - he had a serious drinking problem and a number of behavioral problems (plus almost his whole family resents me and has not made life easy for me) that have brought us to this point, but I've also of course made plenty of mistakes. I'm on disability for a number of mental troubles; he hasn't had a job in a long time and has no money. All the local men's shelters are full. We're in a big city and two days ago he was robbed of his cellphone by a swindler who offered to pick him up and help him to get somewhere safe. Please pray urgently and intensely for him to find shelter. I honestly have no more resources and it's terrible to know he's roaming around out there.

Jesus please look after hopingforheaven while she is staying in the accommodation that she has found, thank you for her faith, which made her think of putting this request up on here. Please cover her fiancee in your protection and love, provide a way to survive for him until you can lead him to freedom from his troubles in You, lead him to safety and support somewhere to ask for help and get sober in safety too. Please protect hopingforheaven from the threat she sees in his family, and increase her faith in You as she tries to manage until she can create better circumstances.

Unfortunately South-Africa is not that advanced, particularly in the city that we live in, hence my distress. There aren't many shelters here and even the state (so-called free) institutions can be arduous to convince to help. But the Lord will provide in some way, I'm sure.

I am going to mention this to some friends who are in recovery through AA today. 12 Step Fellowships have helped a lot of people, but your fiancee would have to at least be willing to sit in a meeting and realise that he needs help. It should never cost money to go to 12 Step.

He was offered a job at a hardware-related store just across from the shelter where I stay. Accommodation for him still a problem. We're both trying our hardest in the face of so much opposition. Please pray for the Lord to guide us and bring peace into a tumultuous situation. Blessings to everybody; thank you for your kindness.

Lord God I lift up hopingforheaven and their fiancée to You right now and I pray for a miracle in their situations and for complete healing and deliverance for both of them from homelessness, I pray that hopingforheaven would be delivered from the homeless shelter and would be given a good place to live and that their fiancée would also be delivered from homelessness and would also be given a good place to live, I pray for supernatural provision of both of their needs according to Your riches and glory! I also pray for good jobs for them both, their dream jobs with a high salary! I also pray for both of their good health! Thank You Lord!

hopingforheaven - If you can look around click here, on that website you might be able to find someone near you in real life to talk to, at least about the part where you said your fiancee has a drinking thing going on. Where it says "attend a meeting" there is a list of locations, and where it says "help the alcoholic" there is information about groups for loved ones.

I do hope you are managing, and I ask Jesus to please be merciful and lead you both to better days.
