  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

CV NEWS FEED // At the World Economic Forum this week, the president of the pro-LGBT organization Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) stated that her organization is “working with” Pope Francis.

In a video clip posted to X, Sarah Kate Ellis stated during a WEF session, “We are working with the Pope, and we have been working with the Pope and other religious leaders, and I think we’ve seen the most movement we’ve ever seen. Now we’ve seen some setbacks and I’m not saying anyone – don’t, you know, we have to be careful about progress. It’s not perfect. And no one is perfect in their path to progress. We’re talking about an institution that has been around as long as humankind, honestly.”

She added, “To see the Pope talk about, you know, that gay folks can become, can enter the seminary, that he believes in blessing same-sex marriages. This is juxtaposed to what we’re seeing in America.”

I'd have more respect for the pope meeting with people if he would also meet with the traditionalists.
But traditionalists are 'backwardists' according to pope Francis so they can be totally ignored if not actively suppressed. The pope will meet with every sort of deviant imaginable but not with people who we would all have once called faithful Catholics. What a mixed up world.

What happened to shepherding the flock?
Our pope does not want to shepherd any traditionalists. He calls then names and looks down on then and works to extinguish them. Todos, todos, todos.

"Our pope"? Do you believe that he is?
Very reluctantly, yes I do. A bad pope. We've had those before. Nonetheless the real pope. A damaging pope, but a pope that is more accurate than a stopped clock by just a little. We could go on and on about his problems. His presence is a chastisement but he is still our pope.

He does act like he is 'their' pope often enough, promoting LGBTQWERTY advocates with abandon. I get it how they think he is working for them. He seldom acts like 'our' pope.

Regardless of bad leaders, remember Christ’s promise “the gates of hell shall not prevail.”

I did for some time, but now I strongly doubt it. If he is merely one "bad pope" in a train of others in history - or even the worst yet - I am convinced that the papacy itself was destined to fall and will, before the Lord comes again. If not Francis, one will come worse than he is.
