CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
ICE is already making us safer.

Local agencies can incarcerate them, but may not deport them at the end of their sentence; instead what is supposed to happen is they complete the sentence and then instead of being released as other defendants they are handed over to ICE.

I do not agree with President Trump's and today's Republican Party's immigration policy. I am more supportive of W. Bush's comprehensive immigration policy, which is compassionate, aligns with my Christian values, and simultaneously serves as a deterrence for future crises and enhances border security.
With that being said, I welcome the apprehension of these 300 individuals who committed violent crimes. What aspect of this action warrants criticism? Are you criticizing simply to oppose President Trump?

I'm asking what did he actually do? They were already incarcerated, merely moved to ICE facilities where they will be deported and be free to sneak across the border again -- rather than get convictions, be sentenced (if they hadn't already been), and serve time in prison. How does that make us safer?
Not to mention, the Biden administration over 2024 was deporting over 740 illegal immigrants daily (271,000 for FY 2024) -- so how is Trump only getting rid of 300, and these 300 already in custody, an improvement?

They have these things called emails and zoom meetings now, where a new leader can address his team system wide in a matter of moments.
It’s really interesting technology, like making a phone call and giving instructions for an immediate action.
Always a pleasure.
Who knows?! They might have even watched TV where is was talked about for the last month or so, or perhaps there was a transition and the team got up to speed.

It takes time to compile the relevant information, put the resources in place, contact and coordinate with the local officials who were holding these individuals, etc. They didn't start from scratch the day prior.

They weren't in custody for deportation, so they were still wherever with access to our people.
The Cartels and foreign gangs I don't want in prison with our citizens. The worst and most psychopathic the world has is now here, and we cannot house them with our American citizens who might have simply made a mistake in life.
We will have to put some criminals in Gitmo.

The initial post did not reference any transfer of custody between agencies. The news article indicates that ICE apprehended individuals directly from the street. However, it is possible that some offenders were transferred from one agency to another.
I acknowledge that right-wing media outlets are making a significant issue out of this, as though it is an achievement comparable to the moon landing. Even the OP claiming “ promise made promise kept”.
You are correct that many undocumented criminals were apprehended during President Biden's term, which President Trump and his supporters will not admit. However, it is also true that President Biden initially lacked an immigration policy. He neglected the issue for the first three years and attempted to please his liberal base by canceling President Trump's executive orders related to immigration. When President Biden finally took action on the border issue, it was too little, too late.
The United States has became political polarization, with opposing perspectives frequently dominating the discourse. To improve the country, we need to work together regardless of political affiliation or candidate preference. This requires honesty and recognition of what is right and wrong.
If the apprehension of 300 violent criminals contributes to making the streets safer, it should be acknowledged regardless of which political party achieved it. At the same time, we should not celebrate excessively simply because the individual I supported apprehended 300 criminals on the second day.

ICE makes over 3,500 arrests during Trump's 1st week back in office
ICE announced Monday a multi-agency immigration clampdown resulted in 1,179 arrests in a single day — the biggest number since President Trump took office a week ago.
Why it matters: The Trump administration is stepping up efforts targeting undocumented immigrants in cities across the U.S. — and it's resulted in at least 3,552 arrests since Thursday, per figures posted to Immigration and Customs Enforcement's X account.
- Under the Biden administration, the average number of arrests of noncitizens with criminal convictions or pending charges in the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30 was 310.7 per day, according to an ICE report.
