  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

at home
ἐνδημῆσαι (endēmēsai)
Verb - Aorist Infinitive Active
Strong's 1736: To be at home, live in a place. From a compound of en and demos; to be in one's own country, i.e. Home.

Berean Literal Bible:

Now we are confident and are pleased rather to be absent out of the body, and to be at home with the Lord.
On Biblehub, 28 versions used 'home'; 9 used 'present'.

I'm not sure what your point is here. What is the difference between being at home with the Lord and being present with the Lord? I don't really see any difference there. If you are at home with the Lord, then you are present with the Lord, right?

The word 'present' has a stronger linkage with real-time than the phrase 'at home.' This distinction is crucial in What is our state of being after we die?. Usually, I tend to stick more to literal translations.

Good questions.
