  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This is a good one. God has freed us from our chains. He has helped me make more Christian friends + friends in general and judge people a bit less. :) Still I have a long way to go. Happy New Year, brother in Christ.

If I am online here less, it is cos I am trying to improve myself. Chatting on the internet can be an addiction, so my New Year's resolution is to be online a bit less. Also, reading the news about the wildfires, wars and the fear mongering from CNN, The Guardian, Fox, and even the BBC to an extent (moderate news source) has gotten out of hand. So, my goal is to check the news less.

I fully agree that chatting on the internet, even on forums, can be an addiction. I believe that Jesus Christ will bless you in keeping your New Years resolutions.
Maybe I should not be as much as a "news junkie" ^_^ that my wife says that I am. But, for almost all of my adult life, I have almost always kept myself well informed on the news and political stuff. :)

Haha, we are both news junkies. I follow the tech news mainly, and some of the new technology such as AI is disturbing, even though I use a private open-source AI myself. It is sad how Musk and Sam Altman are pushing artificial intelligence so hard. A part of me thinks that artificial intelligence will play a role in the End Times. Hopefully our leaders back out of AI before it takes off.

Thank you for the good wishes. Jesus has helped me stay offline a bit more, though I do enjoy watching online documentaries. I will be on here maybe a few times per month to offer prayers for people, discover new Christian music from you, and maybe post some good news here. For instance, in April 2025, NASA's Lucy spacecraft will fly by an asteroid named 52246 Donaldjohanson. Looking forward to the data the unmanned probe sends back to Earth. Outer space makes me feel how small we are compared to God and His beautiful creation.
