  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Fire hydrants out of water, Democrat mayor out of country as Los Angeles wildfires rage

'My understanding is the reservoir was not refilled in time and in a timely manner to keep the hydrants going.' . . .
"The hydrants are down," one firefighter reported over the internal radio system, according to the Los Angeles Times.
"Water supply just dropped," said another.
The Department of Water and Power admitted that water scarcity was an issue but said that crews were working in the affected areas "to ensure the availability of water supplies," a spokesperson said.

How tragic.

Fire hydrants ran dry due extreme demand in Pacific Palisades

Janisse Quiñones, chief executive and chief engineer of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, said at a Wednesday press conference that all three 1-million-gallon water tanks in the area ran dry by 3 a.m., reducing water pressure for fire hydrants at higher elevations.

"We had a tremendous demand on our system in the Palisades. We pushed the system to the extreme," Quiñones said. "Four times the normal demand was seen for 15 hours straight, which lowered our water pressure."

Quiñones said the tanks, which supply pressure for hydrants in the hilly Palisades, couldn't refill fast enough as firefighting efforts drained water faster than the main trunk line could supply it.

LADWP and city leaders faced criticism by some residents, who blamed planning and the city's infrastructure for failing to support firefighting efforts. Some also claimed on social media that officials had refused or failed to fill the tanks.

However, Los Angeles Fire Department Capt. Erik Scott said the LADWP proactively filled all available water storage tanks before the fires began. He said that "extreme demand" caused the tanks to be refilled at a slower rate, which affected the supply to some hydrants.

Mark Pestrella, director of L.A. County Public Works, said the municipal water system that services homes and businesses was "not designed to fight wildfires... A firefight with multiple fire hydrants drawing water from the system for several hours is unsustainable.

No, Los Angeles didn’t refuse to fill water reservoirs prior to fires

Firefighters were experiencing water shortages from hydrants because L.A.'s tanks couldn't be refilled as fast as water was being used.

Los Angeles filled its water tanks earlier this week, prior to the start of the current wildfire outbreak. Fire hydrants used by firefighters ran out of water because of high water demand that is outpacing the speed at which water service officials can replenish the tanks.

“On Monday, LADWP filled all available water storage facility tanks (around 114 throughout the City), including three 1-million gallon tanks in the Palisades area.”

Jeffrey Mount, senior fellow at the PPIC Water Policy Center, a think tank that tracks water use and storage data in California, told VERIFY that there isn’t a shortage of water in the area’s reservoirs.

“At no time during this fire has there been a shortage of water in southern California,” Mount said. “Their reservoirs are full. And there is nothing to be done with water that would have changed the course of these fires.”

Combined with their failures in brush management and controlled burns, this was a disaster waiting to happen. I just wish that when Californians leave they leave ALL of their previous politics behind. I'm an environmentalist,, but human lives are far more important.

How does one do a controlled burn in a dense urban area?

The fires didn't start in the dense urban area, they spread to it from the nearby forest.

You can't in some areas. What you can do is those areas is clear away brush, have stricter fire-proof building codes, and allow the insurance companies to charge more for dangerous areas. My aunt's house was at the top of a hill right near the Oakland Berkeley border and once the fire started up the hill (Reggie Jackson's house was on that hill) it completely cut off the firefighters. Everyone was adamant they would never rebuild on that hill but eventually someone else did.

I believe the fires to be a warning, and here is mine.

WARNING: TURN OR BURN

Everything you do, everywhere you go, the doors are opening to a place you do not know. The gates of hell open wide before you and devils call your name, turn left or right, try to go backwards, but no, there in their hell you shall remain. The snares that you laid will lay hold on you, as fears untold become real before you. The voices of your fears that you can not keep quiet will ring in your ears as you swim in your vomit, unforgiven, one with the evil and darkness within, you once called right, but you knew was sin, all hope slips away, regret and anguish take hold and stay, forever. In pain, no one will hear you crying, for a drop of rain to ease your thirst undying. There you will lie in the depths of the slaughter, gnaw your tongue in the sides of the pit without water, as you breathe in the rottenness and stench of sulfur, and demons have all their way with you forever. The worms that consume you without end will be your only death-long friends. You will try to remember your time of pleasure, but find only remorse in place of memories that you treasure.

THE REALITY OF HELL IS MUCH WORSE THAN THIS, AND IT SIMPLY SHOULD NOT BE DISMISSED. SCREAMS OF HORROR DESCRIBE IT SO MUCH BETTER. STILL DON’T BELIEVE? ALRIGHT, GO, AND DROP ME A LETTER, LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU RECEIVE, WAIT NO, YOU CAN’T YOU’RE IN FETTERS, AND YOU’VE BEEN DECEIVED! MAYBE YOU SHOULD START PRACTICING YOUR SCREAMS RIGHT NOW? OR YOU COULD JUST REPENT, I’LL SHOW YOU HOW, ON YOUR FACE, IN THE DUST YOU MUST BOW NOW! DUST FROM WHICH YOU CAME AND SHALL SOON RETURN. TODAY IS THE DAY OF SALVATION, CRY FOR MERCY, TURN OR BURN. LET YOUR TEARS FLOW LIKE RIVERS, AND CONFESS ALL YOUR SINS. IF YOU TRULY BELIEVE YOU’LL ABIDE IN HIM, AND BE ETERNALLY FOREVER HIS CHILD. TURN TO GOD LITTLE ONE AND YOU’LL SEE HIS FACE SMILE.

CRY OUT ALOUD TO THE LORD JESUS CHRIST RIGHT NOW! HE’LL SAVE YOU FROM YOUR SINS, EVEN THOUGH YOU DON’T KNOW HOW.

The judgment of the Lord has already begun, and it goes something like this. Hear his voice little one and do not resist. Now he knocks on the door and he brings you a letter, open up invite him in and you’ll feel so much better. If you leave him outside in the cold this time, he’ll be back before you know it and not with a rhyme. The angels will come in great streams of fire pouring down from above and your situation will be dire. Washed away in the flood of his rain you will be forever lost eternally. A rain that will bless his people for sure, open up take the cup and drink deeply my word. The blessing and the curse I set before you this day, choose now little one whom you shall obey. TIME IS NOT ON YOUR SIDE, CONSIDER YOURSELF WARNED, WHO SHALL YOU SERVE THIS DAY?

At the end of the day, climate change is greater than any network of firefighters can fight. No number of water tanks, no amount of brush clearing, and no quantity of air support can stop the climate from becoming hotter, dryer and more flammable.

Well about 8 / 21 days left for us to pray for them. Just like Daniel's day it took Gabriel 21 days to get past the powers that were entrenched over Babylon . Well Bible gives us a few clues so we can have an idea what to fight against in prayer. But LA kicked out God with his angels a long time ago and has much prefered the Lost Angels. So I can only guess if maybe, A few angelinos will start praying to Almighty after experiencing hell on earth ?
I MEAN THE BOTTOM LINE HERE HAS ALWAYS BEEN WHAT I SAW THE OTHER DAY

"ONE OF THE SCARIEST REALITIES IN LIFE IS THAT , IF YOU INSIST , IS GOD WILL LET YOU DO IT YOUR WAY. (( BUT THAT IS WHAT FREE MORAL AGENCY IS ALL ABOUT.

SO KEEP PRAYING , MAYBE 8 OR NINE MORE DAYS IN HOPES THAT FATHER HAS AN ANSWER WHEN THE WAY HAS BEEN MADE CLEAR IN THE SPIRITUAL RHELMS , SO HE CAN ANSWER THE PRAYERS OF THOSE WHO ARE PRAYING.

If California goes down--the 5th largest economy in the world--there will be extremely negative repercussions to our country's economy.
So if the president is thinking about acting out of vindictiveness today to punish a state that has carried the poorer states on its back for decades, he should think again.
If compassion and human decency can't inspire him, perhaps dollars and cents will.
