  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

There is oneness in this Body, 1 Corinthians 12:

12 For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. 13 For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit.
27 Now you are Christ’s body, and individually members of it.
What is the Body of Christ in 1 Corinthians 12?

This Body of Christ is a spiritual reality. We are born of the Paraclete. Jesus sent the Paraclete to dwell in us. Every believer with the Paraclete is a member of this Body of Christ, which is not a fleshly reality but a spiritual one. It is not the visible physical church. The Body of Christ is the true church existing in the spiritual realm.

Christ is the head of this church, Colossians 1:

18a He is the head of the body, the church.
The invisible Body of Christ is expressed visibly as the church. Every believer who has the Paraclete dwelling in him is a member of this spiritual church.

Ephesians 1:

22 And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.
Metaphorically, we play different parts in the body of Christ. Some are eyes, ears, nose, hands, feet, etc. (1 Corinthians 12:12-20).

No single institutionalized earthly visible church/denomination is the true church. Everyone born of the Spirit is connected to the organic Body of Christ as a spiritual reality in oneness. The Body of Christ is the true church as a spiritual organism.

Paul strongly warns against creating divisions or aligning with specific leaders in 1 Corinthians 1:10–13. Christianity is a shared faith rooted in truth, much like fields such as mathematics or science. However, just as not everyone fully understands or applies mathematics correctly, the words of God is often misunderstood or misapplied.

Ugh, His Church is not invisible. Scripture doesn't support that crazy idea, not does the testimony of the Church Fathers

If I understand you correctly, yes, I believe you are right, Tony.
There are church buildings and church groups of individuals. Buildings are not the body of Christ, nor are those within that building nessesarily part of the body of Christ.
The Body of Christ abides along side both, hiding in plain sight.

The Church is instituted by Christ. The Scriptures teach that there is one truth, one Church, offering the one Eucharist. We can assume then that those who teach a perverted word they would not be the one true Church for Christ wouldn't teach anything untrue. How then can the true Church, teaching things untrue, be the "pillar and ground of the truth"?

As there is only one truth, one word, and one God, there can only be one Church.

Just wondering:

I would suggest you have multiplicity bodies. Only the Catholic Church is of Christ. Is it true the Paraclete that tells varying "truths" to varying bodies, none of which is the same? If all the other churches have same truth then why are they not the same church?

Did Christ send a fickle spirit bringing all manner of things to mind? Or, does He send us One Truth, One Faith?
