  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

There are two big deportation problems that need to be overcome. A number of those on the far left have put their ideology ahead of the laws of our nation. We saw this when federal employees used taxpayer resources and power to get Biden elected. Trump will have to deal with those within the federal government that leak classified information and those in "sanctuary" areas that maintain they are above the law. Both put lives at risk, bu those who leak the plans of federal law enforcement must first be dealt with. We as a nation have to hold these people accountable.

There are inaccuracies in your claims. But starting with cities? Hmmm...another way to get back at the people who voted against him (his enemies) by hurting their economies and saying it's Democrats' fault.

Trump and his people let it known from the beginning they will go where the criminals are. It's not getting "back at" anyone, Trump campaigned on mass deportation and won an amazing mandate from the people. Today only about 20% of the population in the U.S. lives in rural areas, and roughly 60% of the illegals are in the 20 largest urban areas. So of course the cities will be the major focus. We as a nation have had this debate before and it ended in a bloody war. I don't care what the trafficking of these individuals means to the economy, some are in outright slavery, others might be better termed as indentured servants, but it is wrong to exploit them for the sake of a local economy.

Has there been any discussion of who is going to pay for all of this? I mean, we have a budget deficit to worry about and the new guy wants to start up a big government spending program on day 1. Doesn't make much sense, honestly.

The earlier deportations that will take effect are going to be mostly symbolic. It will be great though if Trump focuses on the criminals. Otherwise, it will require too many resources and be disruptive to the economy to deport millions as Trump has advocated.

Illegals help in some key sectors. Meat plants, and home construction for instance. They do raids on the slaughterhouses in the USA sometimes, and hundreds can be arrested at a single plant. https://www.reuters.com/article/wor...sts-top-300-at-iowa-meat-plant-idUSN12306953/

I would expect Gov. Noem to be as tough as Trump desires. If confirmed as Homeland Secretary she should be unafraid to face off against groups. For instance, she was banned from 6 tribal reservations in South Dakota because of her various stances that offended the tribes. Kristi Noem: Trump VP hopeful outlawed on six Native American reservations

So the interests of illegals, certain industries, and many democrats will be in competition with MAGA supporters who want all illegals deported. It will be interesting to see how this really shakes out. If I had to guess, there will be just as many illegals in the USA in four years, though the border schemes such as remain in Mexico, and better walls will limit the newer and return inflows as they should.

To remain a nation we must respect the law. It is NOT OK to bypass the law, defy the Supreme Court and pay off student loans, claim the ERA is U.S. law when in fact the timeline required by law was not met, or to violate our border laws in order to gain more future votes for Democrats so we can have the Democrats be the party in power forever. Just because many union workers are gong to vote Democrat no matter what is NOT a reason to violate the laws of our nation and bring in illegal construction workers so that the greedy can make more money. What you can and could instead do is vote and urge your member of Congress to pass a law allowing the issuance of more green cards, or pass a law allowing more to become citizens. Experience shows that if lawlessness is allowed more will follow. Thus it is imperative to not let those who have promoted violations of our law to get away with it. Mayorkas, for example, should be prosecuted for all of the false statements he made before Congress and all of the laws he broke.

Maybe try speaking to one issue at a time.
Shot-gunning three or four complaints into one paragraph and drawing a conclusion that assumes facts not in evidence only show’s one’s anger and what that anger has done to one’s debating foo.

And here I thought it was the working-class who voted in President-elect Trump!?

This is a great suggestion, thank you.

Maybe we can get the help Congress to take up immigration reform?

The man had had a job and he done did it.
Barring actual wrong-doing he cannot be held criminally liable for doing that job, that’s just silly.

What I don't get about these alleged raids is how they can be a planned project of the incoming administration. Law enforcement raids of these types take time to plan, so if there is going to be a raid on Tuesday then they (ICE) was planning it last week or earlier. Are ICE officials taking orders to plan raids from people who aren't in government yet, or what is going on?

It's really simple, just go to a suspicious neighborhood, kick in the door, if they don't have passports then deport them. We have already seen that search warrants aren't necessarily required.

I am sure many of the ICE people are eager to enforce the laws of our country so the Trump people don't think it will take long to get them organized. Maybe Homan is lining up trucks from private security services to show up at jails to transport prisoners. For now they have to find where the leak is. Perhaps the FBI is listening in to Trump and Homan communications and leaking the plans.

Unless one is President.

If we decide to criminalize the jobs that Cabinet members do…who’s going to do them (And take the risk of being prosecuted)!?

Please talk sense.

It's not part of their job to lie under oath.

Only if one cares about them being lawful and strictly targeted at people guilty of specific crimes.
If one were more interested in generating Fox News clips of brown people being roughed up by the government, on the other hand...

If you believe that undocumented immigrants are being exploited as slaves for economic gain, there is a straightforward solution. Give them legal status to stay in US. This solution will end their exploitation, allowing them to work hard and live as law-abiding citizens in the USA.

As a Christian who supports Trump's border policies I can't wait until the trafficked women and children are rescued and violent criminals who prey upon the innocent, who have caused so much suffering, are removed from our society. I wonder how many will die because of the violations of our border laws and the weak foreign policies of this nation (such as allowing China to get away with so much in the fentanyl business) before Trump moves into action. I feel very sorry for those immigrants who were told by Joe to "come," who were lured into this country. I hope that those who love America and truly seek to become part of the American dream apply to become citizens through the legal process, and I hope from now on leaders who don't like the border laws will work to legally changes those laws rather than break them.

What should be done with women and children rescued from human traffickers? Should they be granted US citizenship and allowed to stay in the USA? If that is the suggestion, then I support it. There are currently almost 10 million of them in the USA.

I'm not sure what you mean by victims of human trafficking. Yes, many asylum seekers were brought here by drug gangsters who were paid to transport them through the Darian Gap and the cartel-controlled no man's land south of our border. There are no doubt a number of them that were brought here and now work in sweatshops or the sex trade to pay off their debt to the cartels, but it surpasses belief that there are anything like ten million of them.
