  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It's already punishable by immediate deportation, unless the individual presents a plausible asylum claim.
There you go. The difference is that it will actually start being enforced.

I was referring specifically to Jesus since I assumed he was. I am aware of what Paul had to say.
Paul's letters are considered to be scripture.

You have some scripture to back that up?
Romans 13:1-7
Genesis 9:6
1 corinthians 14:33
Ronans 12:8

However violating man's laws may be necessary if it violates God's laws Acts 5:27-29. However, even then, we are to accept the punishments that come with it from violating man's laws Acts 5:40-42.

Gotcha. The taxes payment bit.
Yes. Jesus' mission was not to overthrow any political systems, but to work within those systems for transformational change. Even if immigration policies violates God's word, Christians are expected to endure the punishments for the earthly laws they violate.

So if @Maria Billingsley wants to make it her God given mission to harbor and smuggle illegal immigrants like a modern day Harriet Tubman, she should also do so with the willingness to face incarceration. The mayor of Denver intends on making himself the example.

I appreciate that idea. But I disagree. Jesus mission had 0 to do with government.

Christians are expected to endure, I agree. But consider how many times Jesus confronted Pharisees and Sadducees compared to how many times he confronted a government official. He seems (As makes sense) ONLY concerned with the spiritual state of those around him.

Nonsense. Cities used to build walls for protection, after the Muslims attacked in the 800s the Vatican built a wall. Today they have three huge entrances that are always open to the public. You just walk right in, it's been that way for a long, long time. Although they are not part of the European Union and are a foreign country the truth is that no one is even at the entrances to check your ID. If you wish to enter St. Peter's Basilica, because of vandalism and terrorism you must pass through a metal detector. People also must wear respectable clothing to enter St. Peter's Basilica.

That's a good idea. Maybe Biden should have all of the terrorists, that he is letting in, go through a metal detector first.

How many immigrants have they received, housed and provided for in the last four years?

The Vatican's approach to immigration and access is one of the strictest in Europe, reflecting its need to safeguard its small population and the sanctity of its grounds. Unauthorized immigration is not tolerated, and all access to the Vatican is carefully controlled.

The Vatican is less than one square miles in total area. They get around 5 million visitors a year. Many Catholics go to the Basilica of St. Peter, the largest church in the world, to worship. Besides that space, museums are also on the property, open to the public and free on weekends. The Vatican has showers for those who are homeless except on Wednesdays when the pope holds a general audience. The total available area is quite small. Tell me, how many immigrants have you received, housed, and provided for in the last four years?

As many as you have.

I’m not speaking against the Roman Catholic Church. What I am pointing out is the sheer hypocrisy of people who present one picture and live another.

And I don’t mean that Catholics in all, but there are a couple that I am addressing who state it’s the Christian thing to do to bring in illegal aliens yet I doubt they’ve ever brought one into their home.

I am the proud son of two legal immigrants who spent seven months in an internment camp before they could enter into the United States because they did it properly. I believe in immigration. I’m the results of immigration, but what I have a hard time understanding is people who cry out poor little immigrant to people who had no intentions whatsoever to follow the law and enter the country legally. And one scanning access are given thousands of dollars in aids and in many places, taking finances, taking resources from people who built their communities with their own blood, sweat and tears.

You want to come into this country you’re welcome to there’s a process for it. There’s a legal way to do it. Come learn the language get educated find a job and take care of yourself. Millions of us already have

To me it is not fair to have those who applied legally go to the back of the line.
