  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Highlights:

*Jeff Bezos just recently did an op-ed where he said that Americans don't trust the news media. He said now they're the least trusted of all.

*they're licensed by the FCC. And the exchange for that is they have to serve the public interest

*There's also a news distortion complaint at the FCC

*there's been this unprecedented surge in censorship

For the last 8 years we've heard the media say Trump is a racist, fascist, Hitler, Nazi..... My question is, why didn't Trump sue the pants off these guys? I would!

I would love TRUTH in media because many of our brains would unwind.

First Amendment.

Plus, as a public figure, he must prove actual malice for slander or libel torts.

I would!

Commentators commentate. It's what they do.

But, there are times when a media outlets lies so egregiously, they can be sued and, occasionally, if malice or disregard for the truth can be established in court, held liable. Most often, if they have no actual legal defense, they settle. Say, for example, for $787 million dollars.

Maybe he’s very gracious and forgiving?

It’s ok to talk down about someone’s character? Oh really? Their hatred for the future president proves nothing, other than they are sore losers.

Depends. The First Amendment protects the freedom of the press, for one thing. As far as private citizens go, if you defame someone, they can sue for slander or libel. Unless you're a public figure, like Trump, then Trump would have to prove actual malice.

But if there is no defamation involved, well, freedom of speech is protected by the First Amendment.

Pretty much. Just like all the invective hurled at Kamala Harris, Joe Biden and Barak Obama. Politics is what it has always been.

-- A2SG, criticizing the President (and those running for president) is as American as Apple pie...

Because perhaps like the various election fraud claims, the spin that everyone is lying about him is best made in places where there aren't legal penalties for telling falsehoods.

Not to mention that discovery would go very badly for him.

Greene, who was tapped to lead a subcommittee working with the Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy-led Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), laid out how she hopes to cut government spending

The congresswoman said government-funded media programs like NPR, which she claimed "spread nothing but Democrat propaganda," will be under the subcommittee’s microscope.
