  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

"Elon Musk has just given the strongest hint yet that he may actually purchase MSNBC.

The troubled left-wing network has seen its ratings nosedive in the wake of Donald Trump’s stunning victory in the 2024 presidential election as furious viewers lash out at the false hope the network gave them or just check out of politics altogether.

Another major controversy has been that involving Morning Joe hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, who informed their audience this week that had met with Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida and would seek to take a “new approach” to covering his second term in office.

The situation is so severe that its parent company, Comcast, is reportedly ready to cut their losses and sell the network to the highest bidder.

Such reports have led to suggestions that Musk, who is the wealthiest man in the world and whose fortune has skyrocketed since Trump’s victory on account of rising Tesla shares, buy the network and turn it into a proper journalistic outlet.

Amid growing speculation that this could become a reality, the satirical conservative news site The Babylon Bee ran an article entitled “Musk Announces Plan To Buy MSNBC And Turn It Into A News Network.”

While the article may have been intended as satire, Musk appears to be taking it seriously.

“Crazy idea, but it might just work!” he wrote in a post on the X platform."

Although I do not think it will be likely. But how would you feel if Elon Musk bought MSNBC? After all, him buying Twitter seemed unlikely at the time.

I think it's God's will that the left lost the House, Senate, Presidency, Twitter and now potentially MSNBC.

STOP doing bad things, and stop trying to turn the country into Los Angeles! Just stop...

I do actually like the idea. A Musk owned Network would be a good thing for the entire industry to be honest.

The fact that only 5 companies have been producing almost all our media for so long is showing, and highly negatively so.

Introducing competition to the industry is the most positive thing that can happen. It's been happening for a few online, but to mainstream it is a definite win.

Competition helps keep people honest.

American would be much better if all the media was in step with the government.
Sounds like a left-wing dream. Just add socialism and it's paradise.

Sure, if Trump is leading a left wing govt.
Trump is a freedom lover, including freedom of the press, and freedom to buy and sell companies. That's why Libertarians and Anarchists voted for him and not Kamala.... Regardless of what the LWMSM would have us believe.

Like the Russian media? Great idea! Would you and the left be in favor of a nationalized media like that found in China and North Korea? So much for freedom of speech as long as it pushes the liberal agenda. Am I right?

I think so, too. I hope Musk will remove himself from the political news and make news about technology, economics, health, and life-related issues that benefit us.

The US fed govt is right wing.... in a couple months.

You can sense the glee at the prospect of an oligarch coming in and buying up the left wing media and flipping its orientation to align with the new regime.

Why would anyone actually want to buy it? Their left leaning content is losing viewers and the viewers who remain would not likely embrace a new model if it were "down the middle". If it were a broadcast network (i.e., ABC, CBS, or NBC) things would be different because they reach a broader audience than do cable only networks.

That is a great idea, actually. Havn't thought about that. They could use MSNBC to provide transparency into DoGE efforts, like a real-time documentary to inform people of the fraud, waste, and abuse that they uncover and eliminate. Then they could shut it down on our 250th anniversary (after a finale to beat all finales).

The us government is not right wing. So, I am curious as to where you will get your misinformation in the event that MSNBC and Twitter are going to be bastions of free speech? I guess there is always CNN. Of course The View will be canceled and we no longer have to deal with cackling hens spewing lie after lie and having to make one legal statement after another because they were called out. Hello Whoopie pulling a 'Jussie Smollet' by making fake accusations to pretend to be a victim and slandering a bakery.

That was a different situation. MSNBC produces content and has an audience. To be able to stomach MSNBC content, the audience must be left-leaning. The further left the audienc is, the more likely they are to continue watching. So if MSNBC content turns towards the center, they are likely to lose what small audience that remains. The drop in viewership after the Morning Joe trip to Maralago is evidence of that very thing. This is my theory at least.

Twitter was different. Twitter had millions of content creators with every imaginable point of view, but the platform owners were applying bias in their algorithms to suppress content that was not in line with left-leaning orthodoxy. Elon eliminated the offending algorithms and restored freedom of speech. This offended the left-leaning suppressors of free speech, and some of them stopped using X. But I do not sense that X has lost millions of content creators. This is my theory at least.

Or they could continue it as the "Watchdog Channel", WATCH. lol

Any new network can create different content and draw a different audience.

Right now right and center only has one news and opinion channel - Fox.

It would be nice to have another option that's not just online.

If you got rid of Fox News all of cable news would be. Altogether the left-lean of media is remarkable. The reason people were so surprised at the election results of 2016 and 2024 has everything to do with that media bias.

It seems more like it'd be a vanity-project purchase, similar to the Onion buying Infowars.

People already have their favorite style of media they'll gravitate toward.

It's more or less just a "trophy"... Symbolizing a victory over a rival
