With Thune being the Senate leader i will actually be surprised if Gaetz gets affirmed. But we'll see. I suppose Trump could make a recess appointment to bypass the process.

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Garlands service is a prime example that all those "qualifications" you value so much don't necessarily mean anything. You can have a "qualified" person who turned out to be a failure. Garland is a prime example of that.

...what I and many other Americans deem as holding a leader accountable for his actions....you call "political prosecution". The fact is, Trump, once again, is going to escape any accountability.
My only beef with Garland is...he waited too long to prosecute Donald J Trump. Instead, the DOJ started from the bottom up with their J6 prosecutions...

It no longer matters. He's going to be GONE. Even if Gaetz doesn't get confirmed, Trump has plenty of options for the position that will end the weaponization of the DOJ.
