With Thune being the Senate leader i will actually be surprised if Gaetz gets affirmed. But we'll see. I suppose Trump could make a recess appointment to bypass the process.

Garlands service is a prime example that all those "qualifications" you value so much don't necessarily mean anything. You can have a "qualified" person who turned out to be a failure. Garland is a prime example of that.Matt Gaetz spent 3 years working as a lawyer.
Merrick Garland's legal career is almost 50 years long, 25 years of it as a judge. He has clerked for a SCOTUS Justice and is himself considered SCOTUS-worthy.
What's your beef with Garland? You can have a "qualified" person who turned out to be a failure. Garland is a prime example of that.
I dont think that's going to happen. But I do believe he will go in and clean house and remove anyone who was part of the processes for political prosecutions. He's going to make sure the DOJ is set right.
No, DOJ U.S. Attorneys will continue to go after criminal organizations as they always have...unless, of course, they're diverted to a different Trump priority....
It no longer matters. He's going to be GONE. Even if Gaetz doesn't get confirmed, Trump has plenty of options for the position that will end the weaponization of the DOJ.What's your beef with Garland?
Neither do facts supporting one's assertions, it appears. It no longer matters.
It appears that way. Say goodbye to the chief of political weaponizations. Say hello to no more political weaponization of the DOJ. Happy days are here again!Neither do facts supporting one's assertions, it appears.
Hah. Political weaponization of the DoJ hasn't even started yet. Let's get it going! It appears that way. Say goodbye to the chief of political weaponizations. Say hello to no more political weaponization of the DOJ.

Matt Gaetz withdraws from consideration to be Trump’s attorney general
Gaetz’s withdrawal comes amid intense scrutiny of allegations of sexual misconduct against cabinet nomineewww.theguardian.com
'The announcement comes a little more than a week after Trump said he was nominating Gaetz to be attorney general, the chief law enforcement officer of the United States.
A staunch Trump ally disliked by some fellow Republicans in Congress, Gaetz always faced an uphill battle to be confirmed. He came under intense scrutiny last week over allegations he had sexual relations with a 17-year-old girl.
The justice department declined to charge Gaetz last year as part of a sex-trafficking investigation. But details of his encounter and relationships were beginning to seep out. Just before he announced he was withdrawing his nomination, CNN reported that the woman he is alleged to have had sex when she was 17 with told the House ethics committee there had been a second sexual encounter with Gaetz.'
We'll have to wait and see if Gaetz decides to return to Congress. And Bondi gets the gig. Well, provisionally. Easy name for me to remember, anyway.
